Metallics MTW9 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is 9 gauge tie wire heavy enough to hang conduit or support wire runs?
At 9 gauge the MTW9 is a heavy tie wire, considerably stiffer than the 16 gauge rebar-style wire. That stiffness is what lets it hold a load in place, which is why it is sold through electrical supply rather than as a general bundling wire. For permanent conduit support you still need rated hangers and straps; tie wire is for temporary holds, trapeze assistance, and tying off during rough-in.
2) How many reels of MTW9 come in a purchase unit?
One reel of 9 gauge, 85 foot tie wire per unit under part number MTW9. If you are stocking a van or a jobsite gang box, multiply by the count you need; there is no multi-reel carton option on the MTW9.
3) Does the MTW9 tie wire come on a reel or in a coil?
It ships on a reel, one per unit, so you can pull wire off as you go rather than fighting a loose coil on a ladder or in a lift bucket.
