TOTO THU4013 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is TOTO THU4013 and what does it do?
THU4013 is a TOTO faucet aerator for the Mercer series. The aerator threads into the spout tip and mixes air into the stream so the water comes out even and soft instead of spraying. It is a replacement part, not a complete faucet or spout.
2) Can I use the THU4013 aerator on a TOTO faucet that isn't a Mercer?
Order it for Mercer. THU4013 is the Mercer aerator, and TOTO assigns aerators per faucet family because thread size and housing style vary between them. If your faucet is another TOTO series, match the aerator to that series rather than assuming this one threads in.
3) I manage a building with a lot of TOTO Mercer lavatory faucets. Is the aerator worth stocking as an MRO item?
It's one of the few faucet parts that fails on a schedule rather than at random. In hard-water buildings aerators scale up within a year or two and are the first call a maintenance tech gets about low flow. Keeping THU4013 on the shelf turns that call into a two-minute swap instead of a faucet order, and it's the same part across every Mercer lav in the building.
4) Do I need any tools or extra parts to change a TOTO Mercer aerator?
Nothing beyond the aerator itself. THU4013 ships as the aerator assembly and threads into the spout by hand; a soft cloth and slip-joint pliers help if scale has locked the old one in place. Don't grip the chrome directly with bare jaws, it marks easily.
