TOTO TET2UBI231#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TET2UBI231#SS a flush valve for a toilet or for a urinal?
It's a toilet flush valve. TOTO lists the TET2UBI231#SS as a concealed electronic flush valve for water closet applications at 1.0 gallon per flush, so it is not the right part for a urinal, which uses a lower-volume valve.
2) We're standardizing restrooms on 1.28 gpf toilets. Will this TOTO valve work on those bowls?
No. The TET2UBI231#SS is a 1.0 gpf valve, so pairing it with a bowl engineered for 1.28 gpf means the fixture gets less water than it was designed to clear. Match the valve volume to the bowl rating and specify a 1.28 gpf electronic flush valve instead if that is your building standard.
3) Does the TOTO TET2UBI231#SS mount on the wall surface or behind it?
Behind the wall. It's a concealed flush valve, so the valve body sits inside the chase and only the sensor plate shows in the restroom. That means you need an accessible chase or an access panel behind the fixture for service, which is the usual reason specs call for concealed over exposed in high-traffic public washrooms.
4) Is this TOTO toilet valve sensor-operated or manual handle flush?
Sensor-operated. The TET2UBI231#SS is an electronic flush valve (EFV) with IoT connectivity, so there is no flush handle for a user to touch. Specify a manual diaphragm or piston flushometer instead if the installation has no power available at the fixture.
5) What is the exact TOTO part number to order this concealed 1.0 gpf electronic toilet flush valve?
Order TOTO TET2UBI231#SS. The #SS suffix is the finish designation on the exposed trim, and it is the only configuration this model is built in, so there is no handing or size choice to call out with it.
