TOTO TET3UBIA#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TET3UBIA#SS a flush valve for a toilet or for a urinal?
It's a toilet flush valve. TOTO model TET3UBIA#SS is a concealed electronic flush valve rated at 1.0 gallon per flush, so it's matched to a 1.0 GPF water closet rather than a urinal fixture.
2) What does concealed mean on the TOTO TET3UBIA#SS flush valve, and what does that mean for the wall?
Concealed means the valve body mounts behind the finished wall, with only the sensor and cover plate exposed in the restroom. That requires a chase or furred wall deep enough to take the valve and an access path to it, which is why these go into new construction or a full restroom gut rather than a straight swap on a finished wall. If the existing valve is exposed on the wall above the bowl, an exposed-type valve is the like-for-like replacement.
3) Will the TET3UBIA#SS work on my 1.6 GPF toilet?
No. This TOTO valve flushes 1.0 gallon, so pairing it with a bowl engineered for 1.6 GPF under-delivers the water that bowl's trapway and jet were designed around, and you get carry problems. Match the valve volume to the bowl's rated flush volume stamped on the fixture.
4) Is this TOTO valve a sensor flush valve or a manual handle?
Sensor operated. TET3UBIA#SS is TOTO's IoT electronic flush valve (EFV), so flushing is automatic on user departure with no handle to grab. For facilities standardizing on touchless restrooms, that's the point of the part: nothing on the valve is touched by the user.
5) What part number do I give my plumber for the TOTO 1.0 GPF concealed sensor toilet flush valve?
Order it as TOTO TET3UBIA#SS. The #SS suffix is the finish code carried on the part number, so quote the full string including the suffix or you may be sent a different trim.
6) Does the TET3UBIA#SS come with the toilet bowl?
No, it's the flush valve only, a washroom fitting sold separately from the fixture. You supply the wall-hung or floor-mount water closet, the carrier, and the wall chase; this is the valve that feeds it.
