TOTO TET2LBIA32#SS – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Is the TOTO TET2LBIA32#SS a flush valve for a toilet or for a urinal?
It's a toilet flush valve. The TET2LBIA32#SS is a concealed electronic flush valve rated at 1.28 gallons per flush, which is the water-closet flush volume, not a urinal volume. If you're fitting out a urinal, you need a urinal-specific valve instead.
2) Does the TOTO TET2LBIA32#SS mount exposed on the wall or behind it?
Concealed. The valve body goes behind the finished wall, so the rough-in has to be planned before the wall is closed up and an access provision left for service. If your installation calls for a surface-mounted valve on an existing finished wall, this is the wrong configuration and you want an exposed flush valve instead.
3) Will a 1.28 gpf electronic flush valve meet a water-conserving spec for new commercial restrooms?
1.28 gallons per flush is the HET (high-efficiency toilet) water-closet rate, which is what most water-conservation specs and green building programs call for on new commercial work. The TET2LBIA32#SS is built to that flush volume. Pair it with a bowl rated for 1.28 gpf, since valve and bowl have to match on volume for the flush to perform.
4) What part number do I give my distributor for the TOTO concealed sensor toilet flush valve?
Order it as TOTO TET2LBIA32#SS. The #SS suffix is the finish code on the trim plate, so quote the full designation including the suffix or you may be shipped a different finish.
5) Is this TOTO flush valve a manual handle or a touchless sensor unit?
It's an electronic flush valve, not a lever-handle diaphragm valve, so flushing is automatic rather than hand-operated. That means the rough-in needs power provision at the valve location, which is a decision to make before the wall is framed and closed.
