TOTO THP4925#BN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What exactly is the TOTO THP4925#BN part - is it the whole tub spout or just the diverter?
THP4925#BN is a diverter and knob assembly for a TOTO tub spout, not a complete spout. If your spout body is sound and only the pull-up diverter has failed, this is the repair part. If the spout itself is cracked, corroded, or the wrong length, you need a full spout instead.
2) Is the THP4925 diverter for a tub spout or for a shower valve?
It is a tub spout diverter, the pull-up knob type that redirects flow from the spout to the showerhead. Application is shower and tub. If the diverting on your system is done at the valve body or at a three-way wall diverter, this part will not address it.
3) My tub spout won't divert water up to the showerhead anymore - is this the part that fixes it?
Usually, yes. When water keeps pouring from the spout with the showerhead barely running, the diverter gate or its seal inside the spout has worn out. THP4925#BN supplies that diverter along with the knob. Confirm your spout is a TOTO model that takes a replaceable diverter cartridge before ordering, since spouts with a sealed diverter have to be replaced whole.
4) What finish does TOTO THP4925#BN come in, and will it match my other brushed nickel trim?
The part is supplied in TOTO's Brushed Nickel, denoted by the #BN suffix on the part number. That is the only finish this diverter and knob is ordered in, so if your shower trim and spout are a different TOTO finish code, you want the matching variant of the part rather than this one.
5) Do I need to pull the tub spout off the wall to change a TOTO spout diverter?
Plan on it. The diverter and knob live inside the spout body, so the spout comes off the nipple or slip connection to get at them. Nothing about this part changes the plumbing connection at the wall, so no pipe work is involved, only removing and re-seating the same spout.
6) For a property with a lot of TOTO tub/shower units, is it worth stocking THP4925#BN?
It is a sensible truck-stock item if your units run TOTO brushed nickel tub spouts. The diverter is the wearing part in a tub spout, it fails far more often than the spout itself, and carrying the knob and diverter means a maintenance tech finishes the call instead of ordering a complete spout and coming back.
