TOTO THU766 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can I add the THU766 auto flush kit to a WASHLET+ toilet that is already installed?
Yes, it is a retrofit upgrade to a compatible WASHLET+ T40 toilet rather than something that has to be specified with the fixture. As long as the installed toilet is the 1G 1.0 GPF T40 WASHLET+ and the seat is an Auto Flush compatible WASHLET+, the kit adds hands-free flushing to the existing setup.
2) What else do I need to order for TOTO auto flush to actually work?
Three pieces have to be in place: the THU766 kit, a TOTO 1G 1.0 GPF one-piece or two-piece T40 WASHLET+ toilet, and an Auto Flush compatible WASHLET+ electronic bidet seat. The kit alone does nothing. If the seat on the fixture is a WASHLET+ model without Auto Flush capability, the hands-free flush will not function and the seat has to be changed too.
3) How does TOTO's auto flush kit trigger the flush, and does it replace the flush handle or buttons?
The kit flushes automatically after every use, hands-free, so nobody has to touch a button or a handle. It is the answer to the fixture being left unflushed in a public or shared restroom, which is why it turns up in commercial and multi-family washrooms as much as residential ones.
4) Is the TOTO THU766 a flushometer valve or a retrofit kit for a tank toilet?
It is a kit that adds automatic flushing to a tank-type TOTO WASHLET+ T40 toilet, not a flushometer valve for a hard-plumbed commercial fixture. If the opening has a 1-1/4 or 1-1/2 inch flush valve on an exposed supply and no tank, this is not the part; that is a sensor flushometer instead.
5) For a multi-unit or facility spec, can I standardize on one TOTO auto flush kit across all the restrooms?
Only where the fixtures match. Every opening that gets the THU766 needs the 1G 1.0 GPF T40 WASHLET+ toilet and an Auto Flush compatible WASHLET+ seat. Buildings that mixed flush volumes across floors will need more than one kit part number, so inventory the flush rate stamped on each fixture before committing to a single line item.
6) What is the TOTO auto flush kit made of, and how many pieces come in the box?
The THU766 is a plastic kit, ordered as one part number, MPN THU766. There are no finish or size choices to specify since the components mount out of sight on the toilet.
