Trimco 1013-2B 626 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will a Trimco 1013 pull plate cover the old screw holes from the pull I'm replacing?
Depends on the hole pattern you have. The 1013 comes in two plate sizes, 3-1/2 x 15 inches and 4 x 16 inches, with the grip mounted at 8 inch center-to-center on this configuration. If the existing pull is also on 8 inch centers, the grip holes line up; the plate itself is what hides any leftover marks or prep in that area. Trimco also makes the plate in custom sizes if the old plate was larger than 4 x 16.
2) How far does the Trimco 1013 pull stick out from the door face?
Two inches of projection on the 1013. That is the number that matters in a corridor with a narrow clear width, on a door that swings toward a wall or an adjacent leaf, or where a door in a pair could otherwise clash. It is also the grip clearance you get for a gloved hand.
3) What is the closest heavy duty pull plate to the Trimco 1013 if the door needs 8 inch center-to-center pull spacing?
The Ives 8303 is the near equivalent. It is a heavy duty pull plate offered with 8 inch or 10 inch center-to-center mounting, so it covers the same 8 inch CTC grip spacing the Trimco 1013 uses, and gives you a 10 inch option if the door calls for a longer grip. The Trimco 1013 pairs a 1001 Series plate with a 1193 Series grip in 3-1/2 x 15 inch and 4 x 16 inch plate sizes; the Ives 8303 is the substitution to spec when the 8 inch CTC pull is what has to match.
4) The door only needs a pull, not a push plate. Is there a plate that mounts through the door instead of matching a CTC pull?
The Ives 8302 is the one to look at. It is a heavy duty pull plate with through bolt mounting, so the fasteners pass through the door rather than being set to a fixed 8 inch center-to-center pull spacing like the Trimco 1013. Through bolting is the usual choice on high traffic openings where the grip has to resist being pulled off the face. The Trimco 1013 remains the choice where the 8 inch CTC 3/4 inch diameter round straight pull is what the opening was drawn for.
5) What finishes does the Trimco 1013 pull plate come in?
Six finishes, and both plate sizes are offered in all six: 613 oil rubbed bronze, 613E dark oxidized satin bronze, 622 matte black, 626 satin chrome, 629 bright stainless steel, and 630 satin stainless steel. For matching an existing building standard, 630 satin stainless is the usual commercial default and 626 satin chrome the usual match to older chrome lever and closer hardware. Trimco will also do custom finishes on the 1013.
6) What is the difference between the 8 inch CTC and 5-1/2 inch CTC Trimco 1013 pull?
Grip length is the only difference in the pull itself. The 1013 Series is offered with either a 5-1/2 inch or 8 inch center-to-center, 3/4 inch diameter round straight pull on the same 1001 Series plate. This configuration carries the 8 inch CTC, which gives a longer grasping surface, useful on heavier doors and on entrances where users grab with a full hand or a glove. The 5-1/2 inch is the more compact grip on the same plate footprint.
7) What material and gauge is the Trimco 1013 plate?
Heavy duty .050 inch stock, available in stainless steel, brass, or bronze depending on the finish, and pencil beveled on all four sides. The .050 thickness is why it stays flat under a shoulder push instead of oil canning like a thinner decorative plate, and the pencil bevel takes the sharp edge off a plate people brush past all day.
8) Do I need a push plate on the other side of the door with the Trimco 1013?
Usually, yes, on a single acting door. The 1013 is a pull plate for the pull side; the push side of that same opening normally gets a matching push plate ordered separately in the same finish and a comparable size. ZenSupply carries push plates in matching footprints, including Delaney 3-1/2 x 15 and 4 x 16 push plates. Order the pair together so the finishes come from the same run.
9) Is the Trimco 1013 heavy enough for a high traffic commercial entrance?
It is built for it. The 1013 is rated commercial, heavy duty, on a .050 inch stainless, brass, or bronze plate with a cast grip. Trimco lists it for commercial and industrial buildings, government and military facilities, retail and strip malls, hospitality, and multifamily. For a residential entry or a light interior door, this is more plate than the opening needs.
10) What else could I use instead of the Trimco 1013 pull plate?
A few directions, depending on what is driving the choice. For another heavy duty pull plate, the Ives 8303 is the closest match, offered with 8 or 10 inch center-to-center mounting, and the Ives 8302 is the through bolt mounted version if you want the pull anchored through the door rather than surface fastened. Delaney makes plain pull plates in the same 3-1/2 x 15 and 4 x 16 footprints for lighter interior work. If the look matters more than the duty level, Emtek's Modern, Knoxville, and Petal push and pull plates are decorative options, with Petal in lost wax cast bronze.
11) The door has an exit device on it. Will the Trimco 1013 pull plate work on the pull side?
Look at the Detex P/PN Series pull plate instead. It is built as a pull plate for Detex Value Series exit devices, so it is matched to that device rather than to a general door face. The Trimco 1013 is a standalone heavy duty pull plate in 3-1/2 x 15 inch and 4 x 16 inch sizes with an 8 inch CTC round pull, prepped to its own template. On an opening where the pull has to coordinate with a Detex Value Series device, the Detex P/PN plate is the part written for that job.
12) We just need a plain plate on the door with no grip. What replaces the Trimco 1013?
A push plate, not a pull plate. The Delaney 3-1/2 x 15 inch Push Plate and the Delaney 4 x 16 inch Push Plate are flat plates in the same two footprints the Trimco 1013 uses, so the door prep footprint carries over while the grip does not. Use one of those on the push side of a pair and keep the Trimco 1013 on the pull side, where the 8 inch CTC round pull is the whole point of the part.
13) Is there a simpler pull plate in the same 3-1/2 x 15 inch and 4 x 16 inch sizes as the Trimco 1013?
Yes. Delaney offers a 3-1/2 x 15 inch Door Pull Plate and a 4 x 16 inch Door Pull Plate, matching the two standard plate footprints the Trimco 1013 is built on. The Trimco 1013 is a heavy duty assembly, plate stock of .050 inch stainless steel, brass or bronze pencil beveled on all four sides, mated to a cast ADA compliant pull, and it takes custom plate sizes and finishes. If the opening does not need that specification, the Delaney pull plates cover the same two sizes.
14) Can I use an Emtek push and pull plate in place of the Trimco 1013 on a commercial entrance?
They are different products for different openings. Emtek's Knoxville, Modern, and Lost Wax Cast Bronze Petal push and pull plates are decorative series. The Trimco 1013 is a heavy duty commercial part, a .050 inch stainless steel, brass or bronze plate pencil beveled on all four sides with an ADA compliant cast pull, specified for commercial and industrial buildings, government and military facilities, retail, hospitality, and multifamily. If the drawing calls for the 1013 on a traffic entrance, an Emtek decorative series is not the swap; it suits an opening chosen on appearance.
15) We are standardizing pull plates across a facility and need ADA compliant hardware. How do the heavy duty options compare?
Both the Trimco 1013 and the Ives heavy duty plates are commercial grade parts. The Trimco 1013 is ADA compliant with a cast pull, heavy duty, in 3-1/2 x 15 inch and 4 x 16 inch plates with 2 inch projection, and custom plate sizes and finishes can be ordered so one series covers non standard openings across a portfolio. The Ives 8302 is a heavy duty pull plate with through bolt mounting and the Ives 8303 is a heavy duty pull plate offered in 8 inch or 10 inch center-to-center. Standardizing on the Trimco 1013 gives you a single finish range across six finishes in both plate sizes.
16) I need to standardize pull plates across a whole building. Can I get the Trimco 1013 in a nonstandard size?
Yes. Standard plate sizes on the 1013 are 3-1/2 x 15 and 4 x 16 inches, and Trimco offers custom plate sizes and custom finishes on the series. That matters when you are matching an existing building standard, covering older prep on a retrofit, or specifying one plate across mixed door widths. Standard sizes and the six stocked finishes are the shorter path if either one works.
