1) What lock does the Trimco 1099RGL anti-vandal pull work with?
The 1099RGL is machined to mate with a PDQ LFIC (large format interchangeable core) cylindrical lock. It is not the SFIC version. If your opening runs BEST or PDQ small format interchangeable cores, you want the 1099RG instead, which is the same pull without an astragal but prepped for SFIC.
2) Does the Trimco 1099RGL come with cores or keys?
No cores or keys ship with the 1099RGL. It is the pull and its lock mating prep only, so the LFIC core and keying get ordered separately through your keying program.
3) Should I order the anti-vandal pull with or without an astragal?
The astragal is the vertical strip that covers the gap at the meeting edge. The 1099RGL is the no-astragal version, which is what you want on a single door or where the gap is already covered. On a pair of doors where you need the meeting stile protected, go to the 1098RGL, the same LFIC cylindrical prep but with the astragal.
4) Is this pull ADA compliant for an exterior school or public building door?
Yes. Trimco's 1090 Series pulls are ADA complying and give no exposed handle, rope or hook attachment point, which is why they get specified on perimeter doors at schools, parks and public buildings. The same design blocks a wrench or pliers attack on the exterior cylinder and resists being pulled off with a rope or chain.
5) What is the Trimco 1099RGL made of, and will it hold up outdoors?
Standard construction is 1/8 inch type 316 stainless steel, with bronze and brass also offered in the 1090 Series. The 1096/97/98/99 pulls carry a Plasticol coating that insulates the pull against heat and cold, which matters on an exterior door someone grabs bare-handed in January or August.
6) Can I use a Trimco 1090 Series anti-vandal pull with an exit device instead of a cylindrical lock?
The 1090 Series is built to mate with exit devices, mortise locks or cylindrical locks, and versions exist for both in-swing and out-swing doors. The 1099RGL specifically is the cylindrical version prepped for a PDQ LFIC lock, so if your door has a rim exit device or a mortise lock you need the matching 1090 Series variant rather than this one.
7) Is the Trimco 1099RGL available with hold back?
Yes, the 1099RGL is offered with or without hold back. Hold back lets the latch be held retracted so the door pushes free during hours when the opening needs to stay unsecured, so specify which way you want it when you order.
