Trimco 1229ELGR – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is the difference between Trimco 1229A, 1229B and 1229EL?
Same 1229 Series rubber, three different applications. The 1229A is the silencer for metal frames, the 1229B is the silencer for wood frames, and the 1229EL is the elevator bumper. If you are quieting a door in a hollow metal frame, you want the 1229A, not the EL. Getting these confused is the most common ordering mistake in the series because the model numbers sit next to each other.
2) Will Trimco 1229EL elevator bumpers work as door silencers in my frames?
No. The 1229EL is the elevator bumper in the 1229 Series, and Trimco splits the series by application. For door frames you order the 1229A for metal or the 1229B for wood. Substituting the elevator bumper into a frame prep is not what it is made for.
3) What color do Trimco elevator bumpers come in?
Grey, and only grey. The 1229EL is made from high-grade grey rubber with no other color offered in the run, so if a spec calls for black bumpers this is not the part that meets it.
4) What is the exact part number to order Trimco grey elevator bumpers?
Order model 1229ELGR from Trimco. That is the single configuration of the 1229EL grey elevator bumper, so there is no finish or size suffix to add on the order form beyond the 125-count multiple.
5) Are Trimco 1229EL bumpers rated for commercial use?
Commercial is the intended service class for the 1229EL. Trimco lists it for commercial and industrial buildings, government and military facilities, hospitality, office buildings, and retail and strip malls, which is the traffic profile these grey rubber bumpers are built around.
