Trimco TRI-3651.626 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What is a T-strike and where does the Trimco 3651 get used?
A T-strike is the small T-shaped door frame strike that the latchbolt catches in, named for its shape. The Trimco 3651 is the 2-3/4 inch T-strike built to the A115.3 frame prep standard, so it drops into a frame already machined for that prep. It is a replacement part for commercial openings, not a complete lockset, so you keep your existing lock and just swap the strike.
2) My frame is prepped for a 4-7/8 inch ASA strike. Will the Trimco 3651 fit?
No. The 3651 is the 2-3/4 inch T-strike cut to A115.3 prep, and it will not cover or line up with a 4-7/8 inch ASA cutout. For that frame you want the Trimco 3652, the 4-7/8 inch ASA strike made to A115.2. Check what is in the frame before you order, since the two preps are not interchangeable.
3) What finishes does the Trimco 3651 T-strike come in?
Five: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 625 bright chrome, and 626 satin chrome. For a property manager matching a run of doors, 626 satin chrome and 613 oil rubbed bronze are the usual pairings with commercial lever trim, and 605/606 match brass hardware suites.
4) Can I standardize on the Trimco 3651 across a building with mixed strike preps?
Only across the openings whose frames carry the A115.3 prep. The 3651 covers the 2-3/4 inch T-strike prep; anything machined for the larger 4-7/8 inch ASA cutout needs the 3652 instead. Most buildings end up stocking both, in one finish, and sorting them by frame prep rather than by door.
5) Does the Trimco 3651 come with screws, or do I need to order fasteners separately?
The 3651 is sold as the strike plate itself, a replacement part rather than a kit. On a retrofit you are normally reusing the tapped holes already in the frame, so plan on having machine screws in the matching finish on the truck rather than counting on them in the box.
