They are the two mounting configurations offered on the AP438, and Trimco publishes a separate drilling template for each (AP400E and AP400G, straight and offset versions). Pick the one that matches your door construction and hand the matching template to whoever preps the door, since the hole pattern differs between them.
2) What does offset standoffs mean on the Trimco AP438 versus a straight pull?
Offset standoffs angle the posts away from the door face so the grip bar sits proud with extra hand clearance, which is what you want on a door with a rail, a lock, or a stile that would otherwise crowd your knuckles. If you want the bar parallel and flush to the door face, the straight-standoff equivalent in the same 1-1/2 inch diameter with square groove ends is the AP437.
3) Can the Trimco AP438 be used on glass doors, or only wood and metal?
