1) Will the Trine 4200CC electric strike work in an aluminum storefront frame?
Yes. The 4200CC is built specifically for aluminum frames and also works in wood frames. It takes cylindrical locks and deadlatches, which is the usual hardware on an aluminum storefront door.
2) Does the Trine 4200CC fail secure or fail safe when the power drops?
Fail secure. Cut power and the keeper stays locked, so the door remains secured from outside and you still get free egress by turning the inside lever. If your opening needs to release on power loss, this is not the strike for it. The Hager 2925 and 2928 are field reversible between fail safe and fail secure.
3) Can I use the Trine 4200CC on a fire rated door?
No. The 4200CC is not fire rated, so keep it off fire door assemblies. For a rated opening, look at the Von Duprin 4211 (Grade 1, fire rated, cylindrical locks), the Hager 2930 (fire rated Grade 1, cylindrical and mortise), or the Camden CX-ED1410/CX-ED1420 universal fire rated strikes.
