1) Are these cable ties halogen free for a low smoke zero halogen spec?
They are low smoke, but not halogen free. ECTFE is a fluoropolymer, so the material carries halogen content and the halogen free attribute is listed as no. If your drawing calls for LSZH, these do not meet it. If the requirement is low smoke generation plus chemical and temperature resistance, they fit.
2) What temperature range can Ty-Rap ECTFE ties handle?
The ECTFE band is rated for continuous service from -150 C to 150 C, which is why these get used on cryogenic lines, steam-adjacent runs, and process piping where a standard nylon 6/6 tie would embrittle or relax. The stainless steel barb holds the band at both ends of that range.
3) Why pick a stainless steel barb tie over an all plastic pawl tie?
The barb is a separate stainless steel element in the steel nose that grips the band, rather than a molded plastic ratchet that is part of the band itself. That matters in the extremes this tie is built for: at -150 C to 150 C and in chemical service, a plastic pawl is the first thing to lose grip. The band also uses internal toothing for holding strength.
4) How many ties come in a carton, and can I buy a smaller quantity?
