Mustee 572TBN – Frequently Asked Questions
1) How many pieces come in the Mustee 572TBN VARISTONE wall system?
The 572TBN VARISTONE wall surround ships as a 5-piece set, so it goes up in sections rather than as a one-piece unit. That matters on remodels: multi-piece panels can be carried through a standard bathroom door and up a stairwell, where a one-piece tub/shower unit usually cannot.
2) Does the Mustee 572TBN wall surround need screws or studs, or does it glue up?
It is an adhesive mount system. The VARISTONE panels bond to the existing wall substrate, so there is no mechanical fastening through the face of the panel. You will need to supply a compatible panel adhesive and sealant, and the wall behind has to be sound, flat and dry for the bond to hold.
3) How tall are the Mustee 572TBN shower wall panels?
The panels stand 72 inches high. Measure from the top of your tub deck or shower base to the ceiling before ordering: with a standard tub, 72 inches of surround leaves the upper wall exposed, which is normal but needs to be finished and painted or tiled above the panel line.
4) Do shelves or soap dishes come with the Mustee VARISTONE 572TBN wall kit?
Shelves are not part of the 5-piece kit. VARISTONE accepts an unlimited number of shelves, but they are ordered separately, so add them to the same order if the job calls for a soap dish or corner shelf. Because placement is not fixed, you can set them at whatever height suits the user, including lower positions for accessible units.
5) Can the Mustee 572TBN be used over a bathtub as well as a shower base?
Yes. The 572TBN is a square/rectangular shower and bathtub wall system, so it suits either a rectangular shower base or a standard alcove tub, as long as the opening is a three-wall square or rectangular alcove.
6) What is the Mustee 572TBN wall surround made of, and what does it look like?
Fiberglass construction with a molded tile pattern face, in Bone. The tile look gives you the appearance of a tiled alcove without grout lines to scrub or regrout, which is why property managers and multi-family maintenance crews spec these for unit turns.
7) Will the Mustee 572TBN work on a corner or neo-angle shower?
No. This is a square/rectangular system meant for a straight three-wall alcove. A neo-angle or curved corner enclosure needs a surround shaped for that footprint; the flat rectangular VARISTONE panels will not close out those angles.
8) What is the exact model and part number for the Bone VARISTONE surround?
Mustee model 572TBN is the Bone VARISTONE square/rectangular shower and bathtub wall system. The T in the designation corresponds to the tile pattern face and BN to the Bone color. Order by 572TBN to get the Bone finish; other VARISTONE colors carry different suffixes.
