Model 16063 is a press-by-male-thread adapter: one end is a ProPressG press socket, the other is male pipe thread (MPT). Both ends are 1-1/4 inch, so it takes a 1-1/4 inch press run into 1-1/4 inch female NPT threads on a valve, regulator, or appliance connector.
2) Is the Viega 16063 adapter for gas or for water lines?
It is a ProPressG fitting, which is Viega's gas press system, not the potable water ProPress line. The press end uses the ProPressG seal and must be pressed with the matching ProPressG jaw on 1-1/4 inch gas tubing. If you are piping domestic water, use a standard ProPress adapter instead.
3) Can I thread the 16063 straight into a female NPT gas valve?
Yes. The threaded half is male pipe thread, so it screws directly into a 1-1/4 inch female NPT port with an approved thread sealant. No adapter or union is needed on that side.
4) Do I need a special press tool jaw for a 1-1/4 inch ProPressG fitting?
Yes. Press jaws are size specific, so a 1-1/4 inch ProPressG jaw or ring is required for the press end of the 16063. A smaller jaw will not close on it, and you cannot substitute a compression or solder connection on that end.
5) Is this Viega adapter approved for commercial jobs or just residential?
