1) Does the Von Duprin 33A-EO need to be ordered left hand or right hand?
No handing to specify. The 33A-EO is non-handed, so one device covers LHR and RHR openings and you can stock a single part number across a building. Nothing is field-reversed either, it simply mounts either way.
2) What is the difference between the fire-rated and non-fire-rated 33A exit device?
Dogging is the difference that matters on the job. The non-fire-rated 33A ships with hex key dogging, so you can hold the latch retracted and let the door push-pull freely during business hours. The fire-rated version, carrying the -F suffix, has no dogging at all, because a fire door has to latch every time it closes. Both are the same Grade 1 device otherwise.
