Von Duprin 376T-26D – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Which Von Duprin exit devices does the 376T thumbturn trim fit?
The 376T is built for CVR (concealed vertical rod) exit devices in the Von Duprin 33A/35A, 98/99, 88 and 55 Series. If your device is a rim or mortise device rather than a CVR, this is not the trim for it.
2) Does the Von Duprin 376T trim come with a cylinder?
No cylinder is included. The 376T takes a 1-1/4 inch mortise cylinder, ordered separately, so you can key it into the building's existing system. Budget for that cylinder on every opening you're trimming out.
3) What does classroom function mean on a 376T thumbturn trim?
Classroom function here means the key locks and unlocks the trim from the outside. Egress is never affected, the push pad always retracts the latches from inside. The thumbturn on the escutcheon gives you a second way to control the outside trim without a key in hand.
4) Is the 376T a lever trim or just a plate?
It's a blank escutcheon with a thumbturn, no lever and no pull. Von Duprin classifies it T-BE, thumbturn blank escutcheon. Outside entry is not provided by this trim, it controls locking only. If crews need to pull the door open from outside, specify a lever or pull trim instead.
5) Do I need to specify handing when ordering the Von Duprin 376T?
No. The 376T is non-handed, so one part number works on a left or right hand door. Handing only matters for the exit device itself, not this trim.
6) How far does the 376T trim stick out from the door face?
Projection is 1-13/16 inches, on an escutcheon plate measuring 1-11/16 x 7-1/2 inches. Worth checking against door swing clearance in tight vestibules or where a door opens back against a wall or adjacent leaf.
7) Is the Von Duprin 376T rated for heavy traffic in a school or hospital?
It's a Grade 1 commercial trim, the heaviest ANSI/BHMA duty tier, which is what schools, healthcare and government facilities normally spec. It's a commercial product, not a residential one.
