Von Duprin 970303 US32 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What exactly is the Von Duprin 970303 part?
The 970303 is a replacement faceplate for a Von Duprin electric strike, sold as an OEM Von Duprin part. It is the flat plate that mounts in the frame over the strike body, not the strike itself and not the solenoid mechanism. If your strike is working electrically but the faceplate is bent, scarred, or the finish is worn off, this is the piece that gets swapped.
2) Does ordering the 970303 faceplate give me a complete electric strike?
No. The 970303 is the faceplate only, a replacement component for an electric strike assembly you already have in the frame. If the strike is failing to release, or you are prepping a new opening, you need the complete Von Duprin electric strike unit instead and should order that by its own model number. Order the 970303 when the strike body stays and only the plate is being replaced.
3) What finishes does the Von Duprin 970303 electric strike faceplate come in?
Six finishes: 605 bright brass, 606 satin brass, 612 satin bronze, 613 oil rubbed bronze, 629 bright stainless steel, and 630 satin stainless steel. On commercial openings 630 satin stainless is the usual match for existing Von Duprin strike hardware, but if you are matching older brass trim across a building, 605 and 606 are both available so the frame plate keeps pace with the rest of the door.
4) Is the 970303 faceplate a genuine Von Duprin part or an aftermarket copy?
It is OEM, sourced from Von Duprin. That matters on an electric strike repair because the faceplate has to sit flush in the existing frame cutout and line up with the strike body underneath. An aftermarket plate that is close but not exact means re-cutting the frame prep, which is a job nobody wants on an occupied opening.
5) I manage several buildings with Von Duprin electric strikes. Can I stock one 970303 and use it across all of them?
Only where the existing strikes are the Von Duprin models this faceplate is built for. It is a model-specific plate, not a universal cover, so confirm the strike model stamped or documented on each opening before you standardize. Where the strikes do match, stocking a couple in 630 satin stainless is the practical move, since that finish carries across most commercial frames.
6) Can I use the Von Duprin 970303 faceplate on a residential door?
It is built for commercial door hardware, and it only has a job to do where a Von Duprin electric strike is already installed. Offices, schools, healthcare, retail and multi-tenant buildings running Von Duprin electric strike access control are the places it belongs. A residential entry with a standard lockset has no matching strike for it to cover.
