Von Duprin 360L-LAT 26D RHR – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the Von Duprin 360L-LAT lever trim handed, and which handings are available?
Handing matters on this one. The 360L-LAT Latitude lever trim is built as either Left Hand Reverse or Right Hand Reverse, and each finish is offered in both. Stand outside the door, look at which side the hinges are on and which way the door swings toward you, and order to match. Exit device trim is almost always a reverse-bevel condition because the door swings out, which is why LHR and RHR are the two choices here.
2) What does classroom function mean on the 360L-LAT trim, and will people still get out during a lockdown?
Classroom function means the outside lever is locked or unlocked with a key, and there is no inside thumbturn to change that. Egress is never affected: the push bar on the exit device inside always releases the latch, locked or not. For a school that means staff key the corridor side to lock the room, and anyone inside still walks straight out. If you want a lever that can be locked from inside the room without opening the door, classroom function is not what you want.
3) Is the 360L-LAT a complete lock, or just the outside trim for an exit device?
It is outside trim only. The 360L-LAT is the Latitude lever and escutcheon plate that mounts on the pull side of a door already fitted with a compatible Von Duprin exit device. The latching is done by the exit device, not by this part. If the door has no exit device on it, this trim will not lock or latch anything on its own.
4) Do I need a cylinder with the Von Duprin 360L-LAT classroom trim?
Yes, a cylinder is part of the order. Classroom function is key operated from the outside, so the trim needs a cylinder in the escutcheon to lock and unlock the lever. Specify it in the keyway your building is already keyed to so the trim falls into your existing master key system. Order the cylinder alongside the trim rather than assuming one is in the box.
5) What finishes does the Von Duprin 360L-LAT Latitude lever trim come in?
Seven finishes: 626/US26D satin chrome, 695/SP313 sprayed dark bronze, 693/SPBLK black painted, 613/US10B dark oxidized satin bronze oil rubbed, 619/US15 satin nickel plated clear coated, and 622/US19 flat black coated. If you are matching existing openings, 626 is the usual commercial default and 613 versus 695 versus 693 versus 622 are four different ways to land on a dark door, so pull the finish code off the trim you already have rather than matching by eye.
6) Does the 360L-LAT include an escutcheon plate or do I order that separately?
The escutcheon comes with it. The 360L-LAT ships as the Latitude lever on an escutcheon plate, so you are buying the full outside trim assembly rather than a lever that needs a separate plate. That matters if you are covering old fastener holes or a previous escutcheon footprint on the door face.
7) Is this lever trim rated for a high traffic school or hospital corridor?
It carries a Grade 1 rating, the highest commercial grade, which is the level specified for high traffic and institutional openings such as schools, healthcare corridors, government buildings, and multi-tenant residential. For a property manager standardizing across a building, a Grade 1 trim is what you want on doors that get used hundreds of times a day.
8) Can I swap a 360L-LAT from a left hand reverse door to a right hand reverse door later?
Plan on ordering per opening. The Latitude trim is sold as a handed part, LHR or RHR, so a unit bought for one hand is not the unit for the opposite hand. If you are stocking spares for a building with doors swinging both ways, carry both hands in your standard finish rather than one hand and hope.
