WAC Lighting WAC-PD-73242 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) What dimmer works with the WAC Sinclair LED linear pendant?
The Sinclair linear pendant dims with an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer only. Its 120V driver is not a 0-10V or DALI device, so if the room is wired for a line-voltage LED dimmer you are fine; if the spec calls for 0-10V control, this fixture won't work on it.
2) Can the Sinclair linear pendant be hung on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The slide-on rectangular canopy on the Sinclair pendant is sloped-ceiling compatible and conceals the 120V LED driver, so no remote driver location is needed. It is a hardwired ceiling-mounted fixture suspended on adjustable aircraft cables.
3) Can the Sinclair LED pendant go in a covered porch or a bathroom?
Yes, within limits. The Sinclair pendant is damp location listed with an IP44 rating, so a covered porch, breezeway or a bathroom outside the shower is acceptable. It is not wet location rated, so skip fully exposed exterior positions where it takes direct rain.
4) Does the Sinclair LED pendant meet California Title 24 for a residential or commercial job?
Yes. The Sinclair pendant is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it carries ETL and cETL listings for US and Canadian installations. It is also noted as ADA compliant. It is not Energy Star rated.
5) How big is the canopy on the WAC Sinclair pendant, and will it cover a standard 4 inch octagon box?
The backplate measures 17.75 inches by 5.5 inches, so it covers a standard 4 inch round or octagon outlet box with room to spare. Plan the box location at the center of that footprint, since the canopy is a long thin rectangle rather than a round plate.
6) Do I need to order lamps for the WAC Sinclair pendant, and can the LEDs be replaced?
Nothing to order. The Sinclair is an integrated LED luminaire with the light source built in across its three illuminated elements, so there is no socket and no lamp to buy. Rated life is 50,000 hours; when the array reaches end of life the fixture is replaced rather than relamped.
7) Should I use the 42 inch Sinclair linear pendant or the mini pendant version?
Pick by the surface. The 42.25 inch linear Sinclair carries three orbital rings inside one rectangular frame and is meant to span an island, bar or conference table. The complementary 10 inch Sinclair mini pendant has a single decorative element in a geometric frame, which suits a single-point location like a stair, entry or a cluster of two or three over a smaller counter.
8) How do I adjust the hanging height on the Sinclair pendant after it's up?
Height is set at the canopy. The Sinclair hangs on low-profile electrified aircraft cables that feed through push pin connectors in the slide-on canopy, so you pull the cable through to shorten and release the pin to lengthen, no separate power wires to deal with. Longer cable can be special ordered for tall or vaulted ceilings.
9) What finish does the Sinclair linear pendant come in, and what is it made of?
One finish is offered on the linear version: black with gold leaf, ordered as PD-73242-BK/GL. The body is aluminum, the diffuser is silicone, and the gold leafing is hand applied to the back face of each of the three decorative elements, so the gold reads as a warm reflected glow rather than a visible metal panel.
