LED pro outdoor RGB color changing strip light is great for any and all outdoor accent or color changing lighting applications. 1) Can the WAC InvisiLED Outdoor Submersible RGB strip be installed underwater in a pool or pond?
Yes. The InvisiLED Outdoor Submersible RGB strip is IP68 rated for wet locations and continuous immersion to 5 meters, so pools, ponds, fountains and wells are within its rating. The LEDs sit in a flexible double insulated silicone UV stabilized coating, and the male-to-female end connectors tighten down to make the joint water tight.
2) What else do I need to buy to make the WAC LED-TO24-RGB strip light work?
Two items beyond the strip. You need a 24V power supply, EN-O24100-RB2-T if the supply is mounted outdoors or EN-OD24100-RB2-T if it is installed indoors, and you need the master controller LED-TO24-CM to drive the color changing. Neither is included. The strip itself ships with its male-to-female end connectors. An optional battery powered wireless remote, LED-TO24-WS, is sold separately if you want to set color without going to the controller.
3) Can I cut the WAC outdoor RGB strip to length on site?
Yes, but only at the end of a run, and the offcut is dead. Once you field cut the strip the unused remainder cannot be used, so size your order to the run instead of planning to split a length. Sections come in 1ft, 5ft and 10ft, ordered as LED-TCO-1-RGB, LED-TCO-5-RGB and LED-TCO-10-RGB.
4) Will this WAC RGB strip fit into a 1/2 inch wide cove or channel?
It should. The strip measures 12 inches long by 0.5 inch wide by 0.75 inch high, with a 4 inch lead wire off the end. A half inch channel is tight to the width, so allow clearance for the silicone jacket and for the male-to-female connector body at each joint, which is wider than the strip itself. Mounting is reversible, so the strip can be run either orientation in a cove.
5) What dimmer works with the WAC 24V outdoor submersible strip light?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer on the line side of the 24V supply. WAC lists the strip as ELV dimmable, and dimming is smooth and continuous. Do not put a standard incandescent or magnetic low voltage dimmer on it.
6) Does the WAC submersible RGB strip meet Title 24 and Dark Sky requirements for a California exterior job?
Yes on both. The InvisiLED Outdoor Submersible RGB is listed Title 24 compliant and Dark Sky compliant, and also carries an ADA compliant designation. Listings are UL and cUL 1838 plus IP68 for submersible or wet locations. It is not Energy Star rated.
7) Can I control the color of this WAC RGB strip from a remote instead of walking to the controller?
Yes. Color is set at the LED-TO24-CM master controller interface by default, and an optional battery powered wireless remote, LED-TO24-WS, does the same job from a distance. The remote is sold separately. The master controller is required either way.
8) How do I join two sections of the WAC outdoor strip and keep water out of the splice?
Each section terminates in male-to-female connectors with a 4 inch lead. Mate them and tighten the connector to form a water tight joint, which is what keeps the run at its IP68 immersion rating. Those connectors are supplied with the strip, so no separate splice kit is needed for a straight end-to-end run.
9) Is the WAC LED-TO24-RGB strip a color changing product or a fixed white one?
It is RGB color changing, not a fixed white tape. Color is driven by the master controller. The product data also notes a 3500K high powered LED value, so if your spec calls strictly for a static white cove light, a dedicated fixed color temperature outdoor strip is the cleaner choice than driving an RGB head to a white setting.
