WAC Lighting WAC-PD-87735 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) What dimmer works with the WAC Vornado PD-87735 LED pendant?
The Vornado PD-87735 dims on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer, and the description also calls out 0-10V for smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent/TRIAC wall dimmer is the wrong control here; if the room is already on one, plan to swap it for an ELV or 0-10V device.
2) Can the Vornado PD-87735 pendant be installed on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. It hangs on thin coated electrified aircraft cables that adjust through push-pin connectors at the canopy, and WAC states it can be mounted on a slope ceiling. Mounting is ceiling only and hardwired, with the driver inside the round canopy.
3) Does the Vornado PD-87735 pendant run on 277V for a commercial circuit?
Yes. A universal voltage driver concealed in the canopy handles 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture works on residential and commercial line voltages without a separate part number.
4) Can I hang the Vornado LED pendant on a covered porch or over a bathtub?
It carries a damp location rating with IP44, which covers indoor use and covered exterior spots like a porch or soffit where it will not take direct rain. Bathrooms are fine outside the shower or tub zone. It is not a wet-location fixture.
5) Will the PD-87735 canopy cover a standard round ceiling junction box?
The canopy backplate is 7.75 inches in diameter, so it covers a 4 inch round or octagon box with room to spare. The LED driver sits inside that canopy, so the box needs to be accessible and the canopy is not a slim plate.
6) Does the PD-87735 meet California Title 24 for a lighting spec?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, which is what a California project submittal will ask for. It is not Energy Star rated and it is not ADA compliant, so do not use it where an ADA-compliant fixture is called out.
7) Do I need to buy bulbs for the WAC Vornado pendant, and can the LED be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The light source is an integrated LED, included, rated at 60,000 average hours. There is no socket or lamp to change, so at end of life the fixture or its LED module is serviced rather than relamped. Output is 5278 lumens at 52W in 3000K warm white, with a flood distribution through a silicone diffuser.
8) What finishes does the 14 inch Vornado pendant come in, and what is the part number for each?
Three finishes, all in 3000K: black (PD-87735-BK), chrome (PD-87735-CH), and white (PD-87735-WT). The body is spun aluminum, chrome plated on the CH version. Color temperature is fixed at 3000K across all three, so specifying a whole run keeps a consistent light color.
9) Is one 14 inch Vornado pendant enough light over a kitchen island?
At 5278 lumens with a flood spread, a single PD-87735 puts out roughly the equivalent of a large ceiling fixture, enough to serve as the main light over an island up to about the width of the fixture's own 35 inch length. For a long island, designers usually run two or three in a row rather than stretching one. Note the fixture reads as a 14 inch diameter loop but the overall listed length is 35 inches, so allow for that footprint when spacing.
