WAC Lighting WAC-PD-87723 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Vornado PD-87723 pendant work on a 277V commercial circuit?
Yes. The Vornado PD-87723 ships with a universal voltage driver rated 120V, 240V and 277V, so the same fixture drops onto residential 120V or commercial 277V lighting branch circuits with no separate transformer. The driver sits inside the round canopy, so nothing extra has to be mounted above the ceiling. It is a hardwired fixture, not a plug-in.
2) How low can the Vornado 22 inch LED pendant hang, and can it be shortened for a low ceiling?
Hanging range runs from 15 inches minimum to 131 inches maximum, on 130 inch electrified aircraft cables. The cables adjust at the canopy through push-pin connectors, so height is set on site without cutting field wire, and excess cable is taken up rather than trimmed. The fixture body itself is 10 inches tall.
3) Can this WAC Vornado pendant be installed on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Yes, the cable-hung Vornado mounts on a slope ceiling. It is a ceiling-mount fixture with a round canopy 7.75 inches in diameter, so check that your existing junction box and any old fixture footprint fall within that plate.
4) What dimmer do I need for the Vornado PD-87723, and will a standard incandescent dimmer work?
No, a standard incandescent (leading-edge) dimmer is the wrong control. This pendant dims on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer or a 0-10V dimmer, and only those give smooth continuous dimming. Spec the dimmer with the fixture; a 52W integrated LED load on a generic wall dimmer is where flicker and drop-out complaints come from.
5) Does the Vornado PD-87723 meet California Title 24 for a lighting permit?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it is ETL and cETL certified for US and Canadian installations. It is not Energy Star listed, and it is not ADA compliant, so it should not be used where a fixture has to stay within ADA projection limits.
6) How much light does the Vornado PD-87723 put out and do I need to buy bulbs?
No lamps to buy. The LED is integrated and included, delivering 5,106 lumens at 52W in a 3000K warm white with a flood distribution, rated 60,000 hours average life. With one light source doing all of that it works as the single fixture over a dining table or island rather than as accent light. There is no socket, so when the LED reaches end of life the fixture is replaced, not relamped.
7) What finishes does the WAC Vornado 22 inch pendant come in?
Three finishes: black (PD-87723-BK), chrome (PD-87723-CH) and white (PD-87723-WT). All three are 3000K. The body is spun aluminum, chrome-plated on the CH version, with a silicone diffuser carrying the light.
8) How much space does the 22 inch Vornado pendant take up over an island or table?
The fixture measures 22 inches wide by 23 inches long and 10 inches tall, so it reads as a large horizontal ring rather than a compact drop. Over a standard island, allow clearance on all sides of that 22 by 23 inch footprint, and remember the canopy above it is 7.75 inches across.
