WAC Lighting WAC-WS-W15216 – Frequently Asked Questions
1) Will the WAC Corte WS-W15216 wall sconce mount to a standard pancake junction box?
Yes. The Corte WS-W15216 uses AC LED technology, so there is no remote driver or transformer to find room for, and it fits on a pancake junction box. It is a hardwired 120V fixture with an 11.63 inch backplate, so the plate covers a standard round box with room to spare.
2) Is the WAC Corte outdoor sconce ADA compliant for a corridor or entry path?
Yes, the Corte WS-W15216 is ADA compliant, and it projects 5.5 inches from the wall. That matters on exterior walkways and building corridors where protruding objects are regulated. It is also rated for wet locations and carries IP65, so the same fixture works indoors or out.
3) Do I have to pick the color temperature when I order the Corte WS-W15216, or can it be changed later?
You order a CCT and the fixture ships factory pre-set to it, but a switch inside the canopy lets an installer change it in the field. Orderable versions are 3000K, 3500K and 4000K, all in black: WS-W15216-30-BK, WS-W15216-35-BK and WS-W15216-40-BK. For a multi-building property that means you can stock one fixture and tune it per elevation.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Corte LED sconce?
Use an ELV (electronic low voltage) or TRIAC dimmer. Those are the two controls the Corte is rated for on 120V. Standard magnetic low voltage or 0-10V controls are not the match here.
5) Can the Corte WS-W15216 be installed upside down for a downlight-only look?
It can be mounted either way. The Corte sconce is listed for wall mounting up or down, so you can orient the throw to suit the entry or the wall run. The light is a flood distribution from a frosted glass diffuser either way.
6) How much light does the 15.38 inch Corte sconce put out, and what does it draw?
1365 lumens at 16.9 watts on 120V, flood distribution through a frosted diffuser. That is entry and facade accent territory, not a parking or security floodlight. The LED is integrated and included, rated at an average 54,000 hours, so there is no relamping in the maintenance plan.
7) Does the Corte WS-W15216 meet California Title 24 and Title 20 for a residential or commercial exterior?
Yes on both. The Corte is Title 24 rated for energy efficiency and Title 20 compliant, and it is ETL and cETL listed for wet locations. It is not Energy Star certified.
8) Is the Corte sconce dark sky compliant for a community with outdoor lighting restrictions?
Yes, the Corte WS-W15216 is dark sky rated, which matters in HOAs and municipalities that restrict uplight. Mounting it in the down orientation is the usual approach where the ordinance is strict.
9) What size and finish is the WS-W15216 Corte, and is there a larger one in the family?
The WS-W15216 is the 15.38 inch tall version, 5.5 inches wide, with an 11.63 inch backplate, in matte black aluminum with a frosted glass diffuser. Corte is offered in a 16 inch and a 24 inch size, so the taller option is the one to look at if you want more presence on a tall entry wall.
