1) Will the WAC Charge 8020 track head fit my existing H or J track?
No. The L-8020-30 is built for WAC L track only. The Charge 8020 head is offered in H, J/J2, and L track versions, so if your run is H-style or J/J2 you need to order that version instead. Check the track layout before you order, because the adapter is not interchangeable once the head is built.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC Charge 16W LED track head?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Both dim the head smoothly from 100 percent down to 5 percent. The driver is built into the cylinder, so there is no separate remote driver to match, but a standard incandescent-only leading edge dimmer outside those two types is not what this fixture is specified for.
3) Does this WAC track head meet California Title 24 for a commercial tenant improvement?
Yes. The Charge 8020 is CEC listed and Title 24 compliant, including Title 24 JA8-2016 and Title 20. It is also Energy Star rated, ETL and cETL listed, CSA CAN, and ADA compliant. That covers the usual boxes on a California permit set for track lighting.
4) What voltage does the Charge 8020 run on, and does it need a transformer?
It runs on 120V line voltage, 50/60Hz, so it wires straight to standard 120V track with no low voltage transformer. The LED driver is concealed inside the cylinder. If your run is a 12V low voltage track system, this head is the wrong type for it.
5) Can I aim these track heads at a wall wash and still hit merchandise below?
Each head swivels 350 degrees horizontally and pivots 90 degrees vertically, so you can set one for a wall wash and the next on the same run for downlight on a display. Heads adjust individually and can be added or removed along the track as the layout changes.
6) Do I need to buy lamps for these track heads, and will I be changing bulbs later?
No lamps to buy. The Charge 8020 uses an integrated high powered replaceable LED module rated for 50,000 hours, so it ships ready to run. For an MRO crew that means no relamping cycle on the schedule, and the module can be replaced rather than scrapping the whole head at end of life.
7) Can I use this WAC track head in a covered exterior soffit or a bathroom?
The Charge 8020 is an indoor fixture. WAC lists the Charge LED track head as ETL and cETL listed for damp locations, but the catalog location rating on this head is dry and it is specified for indoor use. For a covered outdoor soffit, use a fixture that carries a wet or outdoor rating.
8) How many 16W Charge heads can I load onto one track run?
Each head draws 16 watts at 120V, so the count is set by the ampacity of your track and the circuit feeding it. Divide the circuit capacity by 16 watts per head and leave margin. Track is scalable, so heads can be added or pulled later as the merchandising layout shifts without rewiring.
9) How big is the WAC Charge 8020 head, and will it clear a low ceiling or a shelf edge?
