Simple, clean and efficient. The Balance Path Light offers a sleek, architectural light source that maintains consistent output through tough environments. Ideal for residential and commercial spaces, the Balance Path Light provides ample downlight through an etched lens and maintains durability in the toughest of environments. Available in a single and double light (T Design) configuration. This path light is powered by bright long lasting integrated LED's and can conveniently tap into any existing 12V landscape lighting system. Factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. Casted using a special k-alloy aluminum that is engineered to withstand the most challenging environments over time. Solid brass coated in bronze (-BBR finish) may be available for enhanced protection against corrosive elements and is recommended for use in coastal or marine environments. 1) Can the WAC Balance path light run off my existing 12V landscape lighting system?
Yes. The Balance path light is a 12V fixture and taps into an existing low voltage landscape run. Input range is 9-15V AC, so it tolerates some voltage drop down the line. It does not include a transformer, though. You need a magnetic or electronic power supply, sold separately, sized for the total load on the run. Each head draws 6.5W (11.5VA), so figure your VA budget from that.
2) How is the WAC Balance path light mounted, and do I need to buy anything extra?
It ships with a 9 inch PC ground spike and a 36 inch lead wire with two gel filled direct burial wire nuts, so a straightforward spike install in soil needs nothing else beyond the transformer and cable. For firmer or higher traffic mounting, WAC's Guardian Spike (9000-SP9-BZ) is sold separately, as are other mounting and glare control accessories. The fixture is hardwired, not plug-in.
3) Which finish should I specify for a coastal or oceanfront property?
Neither of the two finishes offered on the 6061 Balance path light, Black and Bronze, is the marine option. Those are cast k-alloy aluminum, engineered for tough environments but not the salt air spec. WAC's solid brass coated in bronze (-BBR) finish is what's recommended for coastal or marine use. If the job is within salt spray, specify the brass -BBR version rather than the aluminum body.
4) Is this path light rated for irrigation spray, snow, and full weather exposure?
Yes. The Balance path light is factory sealed and water tight to IP66, which covers high pressure water jets, so sprinkler heads and pressure washing around it are not a problem. It carries a Wet location rating and is UL and cUL 1838 listed for landscape lighting.
5) Will the WAC Balance path light dim, and what dimmer do I use?
It dims smooth and continuous, but only on a magnetic low voltage (MLV) dimmer paired with the appropriate transformer. Put it on a standard incandescent or ELV dimmer and you'll get flicker or drop-out. Spec the MLV dimmer at the transformer's line side.
6) What color temperatures does the 6061 Balance path light come in, and can I match existing fixtures on the property?
Two color temperatures are offered: 2700K and 3000K, each in Black or Bronze. That's four orderable combinations (6061-27BK, 6061-27BZ, 6061-30BK, 6061-30BZ). 2700K is the warmer, more residential look; 3000K reads slightly cleaner and whiter. Pick the one matching the rest of the run, because mixing the two on the same walkway is visible at night. CRI is 90 on both.
7) How tall is the WAC Balance path light and how much light does one head put out?
The fixture stands 23.5 inches with a 6.5 inch length and a 1 inch width, so it's a slim architectural stem rather than a wide mushroom hat. The 6061 is the single light configuration, one LED at 320 lumens throwing down one side. The Balance family also comes in a double light T design, which spreads light to both sides of a stem. Use the single where the path runs along a bed or wall and you only need to wash one direction, and the double where the fixture sits between two walking surfaces or down the center of a wide walk, since it halves your fixture count and your connection points.
11) Can I aim or rotate the Balance path light head after install?
No. Reversible mounting is not offered on this fixture, and the optic is a fixed downlight through the etched lens. Set your orientation when you drive the spike. If you need to cut spill toward a window or a neighbor, WAC sells glare control accessories separately rather than relying on aiming.
