WAC Lighting WAC-WS-W91824 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Does the WAC Cylo 24 inch LED wall light need a separate driver or transformer?
No. The 24 inch Cylo runs on 120V AC LED technology with no driver or transformer required, so it wires straight to line voltage and mounts on a pancake junction box. Draw is 37W at 120V.
2) Can the 24 inch Cylo sconce be mounted outdoors where it gets rained on?
Yes. The Cylo LED sconce is Wet Location rated and carries an IP65 rating along with ETL and cETL listings, so it handles direct rain on an entry, path, or exposed facade. It is also listed for indoor use.
3) What size junction box and backplate does this 24 inch WAC sconce cover?
The backplate is 5 by 5 inches, and the fixture body measures 24 inches in height by 5 inches wide. It fits a pancake junction box. If you are replacing an older sconce, check that the existing box and any unfinished wall area fall inside that 5 inch square footprint.
4) Will the Cylo LED sconce dim on a standard wall dimmer?
It dims only on an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer, which gives smooth continuous dimming. A standard incandescent or TRIAC forward-phase dimmer is not the specified control. Spec the ELV dimmer with the fixture so the electrician has it at rough-in.
5) Does this WAC Cylo sconce meet California Title 24 for exterior lighting?
Yes, the Cylo is Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, and it is Dark Sky Friendly, which matters where an outdoor ordinance limits uplight. It is not Energy Star certified and is not ADA compliant, so it should not be used where an ADA-compliant projection is required in a corridor or along an egress path.
6) I need 277V for a commercial building. Can I get the Cylo in that voltage?
Not as the standard build, which is 120V only. WAC offers 277V, 240V, or custom color temperature as a special order on the Cylo, so a 277V run has to be ordered that way rather than field-converted.
7) How much light does the 24 inch Cylo put out, and which way does it throw it?
3132 lumens at 3000K warm white, with a flood beam spread. It is an up/down wall mount, so the light washes the wall above and below the fixture rather than spreading sideways. At 24 inches long it is the tallest of the Cylo wall sizes and the highest output of the group.
8) Do I ever have to replace the lamp in the WAC Cylo outdoor sconce?
No lamping to stock. The LED is integrated and included, rated at 54,000 average hours, so there is no socket or replaceable bulb. For an MRO or multi-family fleet that means no relamping cycle, but a failed board means replacing the fixture.
9) What finish and materials is the 24 inch Cylo wall light made of, and will it hold up on a coastal or high-traffic entry?
Body is aluminum with a weather-resistant finish, and the diffuser is a UV-rated natural white acrylic that resists yellowing in sun. The orderable configuration is Titanium with 3000K output, part number WS-W91824-30-TT. Bronze is the other finish WAC offers in the Cylo family.
10) Is this a hardwired fixture or does it plug in?
Hardwired only. The Cylo LED sconce has no cord or plug and terminates to building wiring at the junction box behind the 5 inch backplate, so it needs an electrician and a circuit at the wall location.
