WAC Lighting 24" Suspension Kit for H-L-J-J2 Track Track Component

120V Track systems are modular and can be designed for multiple applications in nearly any interior environment. Suspension kits are used to suspend track systems beneath a surface. Kit includes a power feedable canopy cover, hallow suspension rod to slide power cables through, and a clip to attach the rod to the track. Suspension rods are standard 18, 24, 36, and 48 inch sizes. Rods may be field cut to custom lengths, use an SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter (sold separately) when field cutting rods to custom lengths. For slope ceilings, SK14 Sloped ceiling adapter (also sold separately) can be used with a suspension kit.

1) Will the WAC SK24 suspension kit work on H track, or is it only for J/J2?
The SK24 suspension kit fits H, J/J2, and L track systems, so it covers all four of WAC's 120V track profiles. That is the whole point of the H-L-J-J2 kit: you don't have to match the rod hardware to the track profile you already have overhead. It's a 120V component, so keep it off low-voltage runs.
2) How far below the ceiling does the SK24 suspension kit drop the track?
24 inches, which is the rod length in the model number. If that drop is wrong for your ceiling height, the same kit is made in 18, 36, and 48 inch rods. The rod can also be field cut shorter, but that requires the SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter, sold separately.
3) Can I run power through the WAC SK24 suspension rod, or do I need a separate feed?
Power runs through the rod. The SK24 uses a hollow suspension rod so the power cables pass down inside it, and the canopy cover at the ceiling is power feedable. So the same kit that holds the track up also feeds it, and you're not adding a separate cord feed at the canopy. It's a hardwired 120V component.
4) Will a WAC suspension kit mount on a sloped or cathedral ceiling?
Not by itself. The SK24 canopy mounts flat, and on a slope you add the SK14 sloped ceiling adapter, which is sold separately and made to be used with the suspension kit. Budget one adapter per suspension point on the pitched section.
5) Can I use the SK24 suspension kit in a covered exterior walkway or a garage?
No. The SK24 is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations only and is rated for interior use, so a covered walkway, a car port, or anywhere it can see condensation or blowing moisture is outside its listing. For those openings you need a wet or damp rated fixture system, not this 120V interior track hardware.
6) What is actually in the WAC SK24 suspension kit box?
Three pieces: the power feedable canopy cover that goes on the ceiling box, the hollow 24 inch suspension rod, and the clip that attaches the rod to the track. The track itself, the connectors, and the heads are all separate. So is the SK05 shortening adapter if you plan to cut the rod, and the SK14 adapter if the ceiling is pitched.
7) Can I cut the WAC suspension rod down to a custom drop length?
Yes, the rods are field cuttable, but not on their own. Cutting to a custom length calls for the SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter, sold separately, one per rod you shorten. If your drop happens to land near a stock size, ordering the 18, 24, 36, or 48 inch rod outright saves you the adapter and the cut.
8) What finishes does the WAC SK24 suspension kit come in, and will it match my existing track?
Four finishes: black (SK24-BK), brushed nickel (SK24-BN), dark bronze (SK24-DB), and white (SK24-WT). If you're extending or repairing an existing WAC installation, match the finish suffix on the track and heads already up, since the canopy and rod are the visible parts of the drop.
9) Do I need a suspension kit, or can I just mount WAC track flat to the ceiling?
Flat mounting is fine when the ceiling is the height you want the heads at. You reach for a suspension kit like the SK24 in two cases: the ceiling is too high for the fixtures to be useful and you need to bring the track down (24 inches here), or the ceiling itself cannot be surface mounted to and you are hanging beneath a beam, a deck, or an open structure. Suspension also adds parts and labor, two kits per 4ft of track, so if the ceiling height already works, don't buy the drop.
10) Does buying the WAC SK24 get me a working track light, or do I need more parts?
The SK24 is a mounting and feed component, not a complete system. It gets track hung and powered 24 inches below the ceiling, and nothing more. You still specify the track sections themselves in H, J/J2, or L profile, the end caps and connectors, and the heads. Match the 120V and the track profile across all of it.
11) Does the WAC SK24 suspension kit meet Title 24 for a California job?
No. The SK24 carries no Title 24 compliance and is not Energy Star rated. That is normal for suspension hardware, since compliance on a track installation is driven by the lamps and heads, not the rod that holds the track. Specify Title 24 compliant heads if the job requires it.
