WAC Lighting 48" Suspension Kit for H-L-J-J2 Track Track Component

120V Track systems are modular and can be designed for multiple applications in nearly any interior environment. Suspension kits are used to suspend track systems beneath a surface. Kit includes a power feedable canopy cover, hallow suspension rod to slide power cables through, and a clip to attach the rod to the track. Suspension rods are standard 18, 24, 36, and 48 inch sizes. Rods may be field cut to custom lengths, use an SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter (sold separately) when field cutting rods to custom lengths. For slope ceilings, SK14 Sloped ceiling adapter (also sold separately) can be used with a suspension kit.

  • Kit includes a power feedable canopy cover, hallow suspension rod to slide power cables through, and a clip to attach the rod to the track.
  • Suspension kits are used to suspend track to a specified distance beneath a surface. Use two for a 2ft piece of track or two for every 4ft on longer lengths.

1) Will the WAC SK48 suspension kit work with H track, or do I need a different kit for J and L track?
One kit covers all four. The SK48 is made for WAC's H, J/J2, and L track systems, so you don't order a track-type-specific version. Only the finish and the rod length change.
2) Can I cut the 48 inch suspension rod shorter if my ceiling drop is less than 4 feet?
Yes, the rods are field cuttable. WAC calls for the SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter, sold separately, whenever you cut a rod to a custom length. If you don't need a custom drop, the rods also come in standard 18, 24, and 36 inch lengths besides this 48 inch version.
3) What's actually in the WAC SK48 suspension kit, and do I need to buy anything else to feed power?
Each kit has a power feedable canopy cover, a hollow suspension rod so the power cables run inside it, and a clip that attaches the rod to the track. Because the canopy is power feedable and the rod is hollow, you can bring the circuit down through the same kit rather than adding a separate feed. It is a 120V hardwired component, not a complete track system, so track sections, connectors, and heads are separate.
4) Can I use this suspension kit on a sloped or vaulted ceiling?
Only with an adapter. On a slope, add WAC's SK14 sloped ceiling adapter, sold separately, so the rod hangs plumb and the track stays level. On a flat ceiling the kit mounts on its own.
5) Is this WAC suspension kit rated for a covered patio or a car wash bay?
No. The SK48 suspension kit is UL and cUL Listed for dry locations only and is an interior product. Anything damp or wet, including covered exterior soffits, needs hardware with a damp or wet location listing instead.
6) How big is the ceiling canopy on the WAC SK48 kit, and will it cover a standard round junction box?
The canopy measures 4.25 inches across and 0.63 inch deep, which covers a standard 4 inch round outlet box. The assembly hangs the track 48 inches below the ceiling surface at full rod length.
7) What finishes does the WAC 48 inch suspension kit come in so it matches my existing track?
Four finishes: black (SK48-BK), brushed nickel (SK48-BN), dark bronze (SK48-DB), and white (SK48-WT). Match the kit to the track finish you already have on the other runs so the canopies and rods read the same across the space.
8) Does the WAC suspension kit count toward Title 24 or Energy Star on a California job?
No on both. The SK48 is not Title 24 compliant and carries no Energy Star designation. It is a mounting and feed component, so the efficacy and controls credits on a Title 24 submittal come from the fixtures and the control gear, not from the suspension hardware.
9) What is the WAC SK48 suspension rod made of?
Aluminum. That keeps the 48 inch rod light enough that the ceiling box and canopy carry the load without added blocking in most drywall ceilings, and it takes the black, white, brushed nickel, and dark bronze finishes.
