WAC Lighting WAC-PL-16027 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Lune PL-16027 picture light work on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The Lune PL-16027 uses a universal voltage driver rated 120-240-277V, and the driver sits inside the fixture, so there is no remote transformer to find room for. That makes it usable on 120V residential circuits and on 277V commercial lighting branch circuits without changing the part number.
2) Is the PL-16027 Lune hardwired or does it plug in?
It is hardwired. The 27 inch Lune is a wall-mounted hardwired luminaire, and it ships with a decorative plate and a slim junction box, so an electrician can mount it on a finished wall without a deep standard box. There is no cord or plug option.
3) What size artwork does a 27 inch Lune picture light suit, and is there a smaller one?
The 27 inch Lune has a 27 inch backplate and a 27 inch overall width with a 2 inch height, so it spans wide canvases and tapestries. For narrower pieces, the Lune is also made in a 17 inch size. Match the fixture length to the piece rather than the wall, and the flood beam spreads the light evenly across the face.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Lune LED picture light?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or a TRIAC dimmer. The 18W integrated LED dims smoothly and continuously on either type. A standard incandescent/magnetic low-voltage dimmer is not the right control here, and pairing the wrong one is the usual cause of flicker or drop-out at the low end.
5) Can the PL-16027 Lune be used in a covered exterior entry or a bathroom?
Yes, within limits. It carries a Damp location rating with IP44 ingress protection and is listed for interior or covered exterior use, so a porch ceiling overhang, a covered loggia, or a bathroom outside the shower is fine. Direct rain exposure is not, that needs a wet-rated fixture.
6) Does the Lune PL-16027 meet California Title 24 or Energy Star for a spec job?
It is Title 20 compliant and ETL and cETL listed for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star qualified and not Title 24 compliant, so if your drawing calls for a Title 24 compliant luminaire in a California project, this one will not satisfy that line item. It is also not ADA compliant, which matters where a fixture projects into a required egress path.
7) Can I aim the Lune picture light up or down after it is mounted?
Yes. The head rotates 330 degrees, so you can set it to wash down the face of a painting or turn it up for a tapestry or a ceiling-facing effect. That adjustment is what makes one fixture work across differently sized pieces on the same wall.
8) Do I need to order lamps for the Lune picture light, and how long does the LED last?
Nothing to order. The light source is an integrated LED, included, rated 50,000 average hours at 18W. There is no socket or relamping, so for a hotel corridor or a multi-family lobby it is a fixture you install and leave alone until the whole unit is replaced.
9) How bright is the 27 inch Lune and what color light does it give?
1600 lumens from 18 watts at 3000K, a warm white that reads naturally on oil, canvas, and textile without the blue cast of a 4000K source. Only the 3000K color temperature is offered, so every unit on a wall or across a floor matches.
10) What finishes does the WAC Lune 27 inch picture light come in, and which part number is which?
Two finishes, both at 3000K: brushed aluminum as PL-16027-AL and black as PL-16027-BK. The housing is aluminum in either case. Brushed aluminum reads as a modern metal trim, black disappears against a dark gallery wall.
