1) Can I use this WAC step light outdoors on an exposed patio or deck stair?
Only under cover. The LEDme invisible trim step light is damp location rated with an IP44 rating, UL and cUL listed, so it works indoors or in covered outdoor spots like a soffit, breezeway, or roofed porch. Direct rain exposure needs a wet location rated fixture instead.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC LEDme 120V step light?
Use an ELV (Electronic Low Voltage) dimmer. With one, the light dims smoothly and continuously down to 10 percent. A standard incandescent/TRIAC wall dimmer is not the specified control for it.
3) Which color options does the WAC WL-LED200TR step light come in, and can I change the color later?
Five orderable versions, all in white finish: 2700K (WL-LED200TR-27-WT), 3000K (WL-LED200TR-C-WT), amber (-AM-WT), blue (-BL-WT) and red (-RD-WT). Each unit ships with interchangeable lenses in clear, amber, red and blue, plus a replaceable LED module, so the output color can be changed on site without pulling the fixture out of the wall.
4) Will this step light stick out into the stair path and cause an ADA clearance problem?
No. The invisible trim design sits flush with no visible hardware, and the fixture is listed ADA compliant. The trim gets spackled and painted to the wall after install, so there's no protruding lens housing in the walkway.
5) Is this WAC step light bright enough for a commercial stairwell or corridor?
It puts out 110 lumens from a single integrated LED with 85 CRI, aimed downward with little or no glare. That's accent and wayfinding level light for treads, walls and walkways, not general illumination. For code egress lighting levels you'd still need overhead fixtures; these supplement them at tread height.
6) Does the WAC invisible trim step light meet California Title 24?
Yes, it's listed Title 24 compliant, and it also carries a Dark Sky designation for shielded downward output. It is not Energy Star rated.
7) Do I have to replace the whole fixture when the LED fails?
No. The LED module is replaceable, which matters for a property manager running dozens of these. Rated life is 50,000 hours, and lamping is included with the fixture.
8) Can this step light be mounted either direction in the wall?
