WAC Lighting WAC-WS-83139 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC Marques WS-83139 vanity light mount over a standard 4-inch junction box?
Yes. The Marques WS-83139 ships with a conversion plate for 4-inch junction boxes, so you can land it on an existing round box without changing the rough-in. The backplate itself runs 34 inches long, so it covers a wide area of wall around the box.
2) Can the Marques WS-83139 be installed vertically beside a mirror instead of horizontally above it?
Either orientation works. The 40-inch Marques bar is rated for wall mounting and can be run horizontally over a mirror or vertically alongside it, and the recessed silicone diffuser throws light 360 degrees so output stays even in both positions. Mounting is wall, up or down.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Marques LED vanity light, and will a standard incandescent dimmer work?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) or TRIAC dimmer. Those are the two control types the Marques driver supports, and they give smooth continuous dimming. A plain incandescent or MLV dimmer is not one of the supported types, so it should not be used on this fixture.
4) Is the WS-83139 Marques fixture safe to install inside a shower or over a tub?
It is damp location rated with an IP44 rating, so it is suitable for a bathroom wall or a covered exterior location where it sees humidity and incidental splash. It is not rated for wet locations, so keep it out of the direct spray inside a shower enclosure.
5) Can I use the same Marques vanity light on 277V commercial circuits as on 120V residential?
Yes. The driver is universal voltage, 120-240-277V, and it is concealed inside the canopy. That means one part number covers residential 120V baths and 277V commercial corridor or restroom circuits, which is useful if you are standardizing a multi-family or hospitality property across different panels.
6) Does the Marques WS-83139 meet California Title 24, and is it ADA compliant?
Title 20 and Title 24 compliant, and it carries ETL and cETL listings for US and Canadian use. It is not ADA compliant, and it projects off the wall as a 6-inch-high bar, so for a corridor run where protrusion limits apply you will want a different fixture.
7) How much light does the 40-inch Marques put out and what color is it?
2714 lumens at 32 watts, in a 3000K warm white. The beam is a flood distribution through a white silicone diffuser, so it washes a mirror and face area rather than spotlighting. 3000K is the only color temperature offered on this size.
8) Do I need to order bulbs for the Marques WS-83139, and can the LEDs be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The Marques uses an integrated LED board, included with the fixture, rated at an average 50,000 hours. Because the LED is integrated there is no lamp to swap, which is why it is sold as maintenance free, something to weigh if your facility prefers relampable fixtures.
9) What finishes does the 40-inch Marques come in, and what is the fixture made of?
Two finishes: black (WS-83139-BK) and titanium (WS-83139-TT). The body is twisted aluminum with a recessed white silicone diffuser, so the visible lens is silicone rather than glass, which holds up better to knocks in high traffic restrooms.
10) Is there a shorter Marques vanity light for a smaller mirror?
The Marques collection runs in shorter lengths as well as the 40-inch size, in the same black and titanium finishes and the same twisted aluminum and silicone diffuser construction. If your mirror is narrow, step down within the Marques family rather than hanging the 40-inch bar, which measures 40 inches wide with a 34-inch backplate.
11) Can this be used as a general wall light outside a bathroom, like a hallway or covered entry?
Yes. WAC lists the Marques as a bath vanity and wall light, and it is called out for corridors as well as bathrooms. With a damp rating and IP44 it also works in a covered outdoor spot such as a porch ceiling overhang. It is hardwired, so there is no cord or plug option.
