WAC Lighting WAC-PD-29803 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Stack PD-29803 pendant be installed on a sloped ceiling?
Yes. The Stack LED pendant hangs on thin powered aircraft cables that feed through push-pin connectors at the canopy, and WAC states it can be mounted on a slope ceiling. The height and slope of each of the three pendants is adjusted individually, so you can level the fixture under a pitched ceiling or deliberately stagger the stems.
2) What dimmer works with the WAC PD-29803 Stack pendant?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer or a 0-10V control. Those are the only two dimming protocols this fixture supports, so a standard incandescent/MLV wall dimmer will not give you smooth dimming. The driver is integral and concealed in the canopy, so there is no remote driver to locate.
3) Will the Stack LED pendant run on 277V in a commercial building?
Yes. The driver is universal voltage, rated 120-240-277V, so the same part number works on 120V residential circuits and 277V commercial lighting branch circuits without a transformer. It is a hardwired fixture, ceiling mounted, with an 8.63 inch round backplate at the canopy.
4) Can I hang the WAC Stack pendant over a covered porch or in a bathroom?
Damp location rated and IP44, so it is approved for covered exterior locations such as a soffit, porch ceiling, or breezeway, and for indoor damp areas. It is not rated for wet locations with direct rain or spray exposure.
5) Do I need to order bulbs for the PD-29803, and can the LEDs be replaced later?
No bulbs to buy. The light source is integrated LED, supplied with the fixture, rated 50,000 average hours. Because it is integrated rather than a socketed lamp, there is no bulb base to relamp. Output is 4,938 lumens at 42W in 3000K warm white with a flood distribution.
6) Does the WAC Stack LED pendant meet California Title 24?
Yes, it is listed as both Title 24 compliant and Title 20 compliant, which is what a California specifier needs for residential and commercial lighting permits. The fixture is ETL and cETL listed for the US and Canada. It is not Energy Star rated and not ADA compliant, though ADA is a surface-projection standard that does not apply to a ceiling-hung pendant.
7) What finishes does the 48 inch WAC Stack pendant come in?
Two: Brushed Aluminum (PD-29803-AL) and Black (PD-29803-BK). Both are 3000K only. The body is solid aluminum with a co-extruded white acrylic diffuser, so the lit appearance is the same in either finish and you can mix finishes across a room without the light looking different.
8) Will the canopy cover my existing 4 inch octagon ceiling box?
The backplate is 8.63 inches across, so it conceals a standard 4 inch octagon or round outlet box and its ring with room to spare. The driver sits inside that canopy, which is why the plate is larger than a typical pendant cover. The box must be fed from a hardwired branch circuit and rated to carry the fixture weight.
9) Will this 48 inch linear pendant give enough light over a dining table or conference table?
At 4,938 lumens from 42W across three 3000K pendants with a flood spread, it is sized for general illumination over a table roughly matched to its own 48 inch length. The white acrylic diffuser spreads light evenly rather than throwing a tight spot, so it works as the primary light source in a dining room or small conference room rather than as accent lighting.
