Modern Forms F-WC-WT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the Modern Forms F-WC wall control work with my existing Modern Forms ceiling fan?
Only if the fan is a Bluetooth model. The F-WC is a Bluetooth-only wall switch built for Modern Forms Bluetooth-compatible Smart Fans. Modern Forms Smart Fans bought in 2021 or later are Bluetooth models. If you have an older RF-model fan, this switch will not talk to it and you need the F-WC-WT RF control instead.
2) Can one Modern Forms Bluetooth wall switch run more than one ceiling fan?
Yes. The F-WC controls an unlimited number of Modern Forms Smart Fans within 100 ft of range, so a great room or a covered patio with several matching fans can be driven from one switch. No hub or gateway is required, the switch pairs to the fans over Bluetooth directly.
3) Can I use this Modern Forms fan control in a 3-way or 4-way switch setup?
Yes. It ships as a single pole control with a single pole wallplate, but additional F-WC switches bought separately let you build 3-way or 4-way configurations. The control is programmed as a 2-way or 3-way switch through the Modern Forms App rather than by traveler wiring.
4) Can the F-WC fan switch go on a covered porch or patio?
It carries a Damp location rating and is UL, cUL, CSA, ETL and cETL Listed, so indoor or covered exterior locations are fine. For a patio install, pair it with an outdoor switch cover. It is not rated for a wet, fully exposed position.
5) What does the F-WC fan wall control actually operate from the wall?
One switch handles the whole fixture: light on/off with 0-100% dimming, fan on/off, and six fan speeds. There is also a Winter/Summer button that reverses blade direction for warm or cool airflow, a kill switch to shut the fan down fast, and Breeze mode support on Bluetooth fans.
6) Does anything else need to be ordered to install the Modern Forms F-WC, like a wallplate?
The single pole wallplate is included, so the switch arrives as a complete ready-to-install assembly. The only add-ons worth planning for are extra F-WC units if you want a multi-location setup, and an outdoor switch cover if the box is in a covered exterior spot. Manufacturer installation instructions are supplied with the product.
7) What is the difference between the F-WC and F-WCBT Modern Forms wall controls?
Both are ordered off the same Modern Forms Bluetooth fan wall control, as two model choices: F-WC and F-WCBT. Specify the model code your fan documentation or spec calls out so the switch matches the fan you are pairing it to.
8) What is the Modern Forms fan wall control made of, and will it hold up in a rental or hospitality space?
The housing is molded ABS, the same class of material used for standard commercial device plates, so it stands up to repeated daily switching in units and guest rooms. With the Damp rating it also works in bathrooms and covered breezeways, which makes it practical to standardize on across a property.
