This multi-purpose Wet Location listed flush mount can be mounted without a transformer on a ceiling or on a wall in a junction box, and also includes an optional retrofit kit with an A19 socket designed to fit into an existing 5" or 6" recessed unit.

1) Can the WAC Disc FM-306 LED flush mount be installed in a shower or on a covered exterior ceiling?
Wet Location Listed and IP65 rated, so the Disc FM-306 can go in a shower, over a tub, on a covered porch or a soffit. It carries ETL and cETL listings, and the housing is aluminum with an acrylic diffuser, which is what lets it hold up in those spots. It's rated for indoor or outdoor use.
2) Do I need a transformer or remote driver to wire up the WAC FM-306 Disc flush mount?
No transformer and no separate driver. The Disc FM-306 uses ACLED driverless technology and runs straight off 120 VAC line voltage into a junction box, ceiling or wall. That's the whole reason it fits shallow boxes where a driver would have nowhere to sit. It's hardwired, not plug-in, and the LED module is integrated, so there's no lamp to buy.
3) What dimmer works with the WAC Disc FM-306 LED flush mount, and will a standard incandescent dimmer flicker?
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. The Disc FM-306 dims smoothly from 100 percent down to 5 percent on ELV, and that is the control type it's built for. A standard incandescent or leading-edge dimmer is not the specified control here, so spec ELV on the job to get the full range.
4) Will the 7.4 inch WAC Disc flush mount cover the hole from an old 5 or 6 inch recessed can?
The Disc FM-306 measures 7.4 inches across with a 7.39 inch backplate, so it covers a 5 or 6 inch recessed opening. To convert an existing can, you need the retrofit kit with the A19 socket, ordered separately as FM-306-RFK, which fits 4, 5 or 6 inch recessed units. Without that kit this is a junction box mount.
5) How far does the WAC Disc FM-306 hang below the ceiling, and is it ADA compliant for a corridor wall?
Height is 1.25 inches, which is why the Disc is ADA compliant and can be surface mounted on a corridor or stairwell wall without projecting into the path. It mounts in any orientation, ceiling or wall.
6) Does the WAC FM-306-930-WT meet California Title 24 and Energy Star for a multifamily job?
Both. The FM-306-930-WT is Energy Star rated, CEC listed and CEC Title 24 compliant, which is what a California permit set asks for on residential and multifamily lighting. It also holds ETL and cETL listings.
7) How much light and what color does the WAC 7.4 inch Disc LED put out?
1110 lumens at 15 watts, 3000K warm white, with a CRI of 90. That's enough for a small bath, a closet, an entry or a laundry, and the 90 CRI keeps finishes and paint reading true. Multiple LEDs fire into an opaque acrylic diffuser so you don't get the socket shadow a lamped flush mount shows.
8) Can I buy the WAC Disc FM-306-930-WT in case quantities for a whole building?

9) Is there a lamp to replace in the WAC Disc flush mount when it burns out?
There's nothing to relamp. The Disc FM-306 uses an integrated LED module rated for 50,000 hours, and the light source ships in the fixture. For an MRO shop that means no bulb stock to carry, but it also means the fixture is the replacement unit at end of life.
10) Should I use a disc flush mount like the WAC FM-306 or a recessed downlight?
A surface disc is the answer when you can't get depth above the ceiling, or you're working over a tub or in a closet where a can is impractical. At 1.25 inches deep the FM-306 lands on the box and needs no plenum space, no driver and no transformer. Recessed is the better choice when you want the ceiling plane clean and you have the cavity for it. If you already have cans and want the disc look, the FM-306-RFK retrofit kit converts an existing 4, 5 or 6 inch can with an A19 socket.
11) Does the WAC FM-306-930-WT come in 4000K or another finish?
The FM-306-930-WT is 3000K in white only. WAC lists 4000K on the 6 inch Disc, so if the spec calls for a cooler 4000K you're looking at a different catalog number, not an option on this one.
