1) Can the WAC Lighting FM-306 Disc flush mount be used to retrofit an existing 5 inch or 6 inch recessed can?
Yes. The FM-306 ships with an optional retrofit kit using an A19 socket that drops into an existing 5 inch or 6 inch recessed housing, so you can convert old cans without pulling the housing out. If you are not retrofitting, the same fixture hardwires directly to a ceiling or wall junction box. No transformer or separate driver is needed either way, as it uses ACLED driverless technology on 120V.
2) Is the 6 inch WAC Disc LED flush mount rated for an outdoor covered porch or a shower?
It is Wet Location listed, ETL and cETL, with an IP65 rating, so it is cleared for outdoor use and damp/wet interior spots like showers and covered entries. The die-cast aluminum body and opaque acrylic diffuser are what make that rating hold up.
3) How much ceiling clearance does the WAC FM-306 need, and will it pass ADA for a wall mount in a corridor?
The Disc FM-306 is a low profile fixture: 7.39 inch diameter and 1.25 inch height. WAC lists it as ADA compliant, which is why it works on corridor and stairwell walls where projection is limited. It can be mounted on a ceiling or a wall in any orientation.
4) What dimmer works with the WAC Disc LED flush mount? My standard incandescent dimmer flickers.
Use an electronic low voltage (ELV) dimmer. Because the FM-306 runs ACLED driverless technology on line voltage, a forward-phase incandescent dimmer is not the right control. On an ELV dimmer it runs smooth and continuous from 100 percent down to 5 percent.
5) Does the 6 inch WAC Disc flush mount meet California Title 24 for a residential job?
Yes. It is CEC listed, Title 24 compliant, and Energy Star rated, which covers the usual California residential lighting requirements for a hardwired fixture.
6) Will the FM-306 cover the hole left by my old 6 inch recessed trim?
The backplate is 7.39 inches across, the same as the fixture diameter, so it overlaps a 6 inch aperture and hides the cut edge. On a bare junction box installation the backplate likewise covers the box.
7) Does the WAC FM-306 have a motion sensor, and how long does it stay on?
There is a built-in occupancy sensor you can activate. When motion is detected the light comes on for 3 minutes, then shuts off. That is why it gets specified for closets, pantries, and low-traffic utility rooms where nobody remembers the switch.
8) What color temperatures and finishes can I order the WAC FM-306 in, and can I mix them across a building?
Two color temperatures, 3000K and 4000K, each in three finishes: white, brushed nickel, and bronze. For a property standardizing corridors and units, pick one color temperature across the whole fleet, 3000K for a warmer residential look and 4000K for a cooler utility or commercial look, so replacements years out still match. CRI is 90 either way.
