WAC Lighting WAC-6031-27 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Eclipse 6031 path light run off my existing 12V landscape lighting system?
Yes. The Eclipse 6031 is a 12V fixture that taps into an existing low voltage landscape run, accepting 9-15V AC at 50/60Hz. You still need a magnetic or electronic power supply (transformer) on the system, which is sold separately. It ships with a 3ft lead wire and two gel filled direct burial wire nuts so you can splice straight into the buried run.
2) What do I need to buy besides the Eclipse 6031 fixture itself to finish the install?
Two things, typically. A 12V magnetic or electronic power supply is required and is not included. The fixture does include a 9 inch mounting spike and the lead wire with burial wire nuts, so a basic turf or bed install needs nothing more. For firmer ground or higher traffic areas, the Guardian Spike 9000-SP9-BZ is a more durable mounting option sold separately, and other mounting and glare control accessories are available separately as well.
3) Is the Eclipse 6031 path light OK to leave out in rain and sprinkler spray?
It is built for it. The 6031 is factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating, which covers high-pressure water jets, and it is UL and cUL 1838 Listed for wet locations. Irrigation spray and driving rain are within what that rating covers.
4) Will the aluminum Eclipse path light hold up at a coastal property?
The standard 6031 is cast k-alloy aluminum, corrosion resistant and fine for most inland sites. For coastal or marine exposure WAC recommends the solid brass version coated in bronze, the -BBR finish, for added protection against salt air. If the property is near the ocean, specify brass rather than the aluminum black or bronze.
5) How much light does the Eclipse 6031 put out and how many can I run on one transformer leg?
Each Eclipse 6031 delivers up to 150 lumens (125 delivered lumens) at 90 CRI, drawing 5.8W at 9.4VA. Use the 9.4VA figure when you total a run against transformer capacity and leave the usual headroom. The fixture also holds constant lumen output against voltage drop, so output stays even down the length of a long run.
6) What is the difference between the 2700K and 3000K Eclipse 6031 path lights?
Color temperature only. 2700K is the warmer, more amber light that reads closest to halogen landscape lighting, while 3000K is slightly cleaner and whiter. Both are 90 CRI. The 6031-27 is the 2700K version, offered in Black on Aluminum (6031-27BK) and Bronze on Aluminum (6031-27BZ). Pick one temperature and stay with it across a property so the path reads consistently.
7) How long before I have to go back and relamp these path lights?
You do not relamp them. The Eclipse 6031 uses integrated high powered LEDs rated for 60,000 hours, so there is no lamp to service. For a property manager running dusk to dawn, that is many years of maintenance-free operation on a sealed, factory-potted fixture.
8) Does the Eclipse 6031 throw glare at eye level along a walkway?
The fixture uses a translucent lens for uniform light distribution rather than a bare source, and at up to 150 lumens it is a low-output path light. If a particular sightline is still an issue, WAC offers glare control accessories for the Eclipse separately.
