WAC Lighting Canopy LED 12V Path and Area Light 6053-27

Canopy LED 12V Path and Area Light with 6.5in Round Cap 2700K

Simple, clean and efficient. The Tiki Path Light provides a wide sweep of light in a minimalist design that will blend into any landscape. Both the dome-shaped shade and stem are made out of a durable die-cast aluminum. This path light is powered by bright long lasting integrated LED's and can conveniently tap into any existing 12V landscape lighting system. Factory sealed and water tight with an IP66 rating for protection against high-pressure water jets and outdoor elements. Casted using a special k-alloy aluminum that is engineered to withstand the most challenging environments over time. Solid brass coated in bronze (-BBR finish) may be available for enhanced protection against corrosive elements and is recommended for use in coastal or marine environments. Includes a 9in mounting spike (Guardian Spike sku # 9000-SP9-BZ sold separately for more durable mounting) and a 3ft lead wire with two gel filled direct burial wire nuts. A magnetic or electronic power supply is required (sold separately) for 12V fixtures. A variety of accessories are sold separately for additional mounting options.

WAC Lighting WAC-6053-27 – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Can the WAC Canopy 6053 path light run off my existing 12V landscape lighting system?
Yes. The Canopy 6053 taps into an existing 12V landscape run and accepts an input of 9-15 VAC, 50/60Hz, so it holds constant lumen output as voltage drops along a long run. You do need a magnetic or electronic power supply (transformer), which is not included with the fixture. It ships with a 3ft lead wire and two gel filled direct burial wire nuts for the splice.
2) Which finish of the WAC 6053 path light should I use near the ocean?
For coastal or marine installs, take the Bronze on Brass version (6053-27BBR). It is solid brass coated in bronze, which WAC recommends specifically where salt air and corrosive elements are a problem. The Black on Aluminum (6053-27BK) and Bronze on Aluminum (6053-27BZ) versions use a k-alloy die-cast aluminum body that handles normal outdoor exposure, but inland is where they belong.
3) Will the WAC 6053 survive sprinklers, pressure washing, and standing weather?
The Canopy 6053 is factory sealed and water tight at IP66, which covers high-pressure water jets as well as rain and irrigation spray. It is listed to UL and cUL 1838 and rated for wet locations. IP66 is not a submersion rating, so it is not a well light or a fountain fixture.
4) How much load does each WAC 6053 put on my landscape transformer?
Size the transformer on 9.4VA per head, not the 5.8W figure, since VA is what the transformer actually has to supply. Ten heads is roughly 94VA. Leave headroom on the transformer rather than loading it to nameplate.
5) Is the mounting stake included with the WAC Canopy 6053, or do I have to buy it?
A 9in mounting spike comes in the box, which is enough for typical soil. For loose soil, heavy mulch beds, or anywhere the fixture gets bumped by mowers and foot traffic, WAC offers the Guardian Spike (9000-SP9-BZ) as a more durable mount, and that one is ordered separately. Other mounting and glare control accessories are also separate line items.
6) Can the WAC 6053 12V path light be dimmed?
Yes, but only on the right dimmer. The integrated LED dims smooth and continuous on a Magnetic Low Voltage (MLV) dimmer controlling the transformer's line side. Standard incandescent or ELV dimmers are not what this fixture is specified for.
7) How bright is the WAC Canopy 6053 path light and how far apart should I space them?
Each head delivers 225 lumens at 6.5W with a 90 CRI, and the dome cap with translucent lens throws a wide, even wash downward rather than a tight pool. That output suits walkway and bed lighting rather than task or security lighting, so plan on a run of several heads to light a path continuously. Rated life is 60,000 hours.
8) What color temperature does the 6053-27 come in, and is there a cooler option?
The 6053-27 is the 2700K build, a warm light that reads closer to the incandescent path lights most properties already have. All three finishes, black on aluminum, bronze on aluminum, and bronze on brass, are 2700K. WAC also builds the Canopy in 3000K if you need a slightly crisper white to match newer fixtures on the property.
9) Can the LED in the WAC Canopy path light be replaced when it burns out?
No. The LED is integrated and the housing is factory sealed and water tight to hold the IP66 rating, so there is no serviceable lamp inside. At 60,000 rated hours you are replacing the fixture, not a bulb, which is worth knowing if you are standardizing a property on it.
