1) What does the WAC J2-I connector actually do in a track run?
The J2-I is an I connector for WAC's J 2-Circuit Track system. It joins two straight sections of J-series 2-circuit track end to end in a single straight line, carrying both circuits across the joint so fixtures on either side stay on their assigned switch leg. It is a track component only, not a complete lighting system, so the track sections, feed and fixtures are ordered separately.
2) Will the J2-I connector work with single-circuit J track or with H or L track?
No. It is built for WAC's J 2-Circuit Track, so it mates with J-series two-circuit track only. H-series and L-series track use different profiles and contact layouts, and single-circuit J track will not pick up both circuits through this connector. Match the connector to the track series already on the ceiling before ordering.
3) Can I use this J track connector in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom over a shower?
No. The J2-I carries a dry location rating and is listed for interior use, so it should not go in damp or wet areas such as covered exteriors, canopies, or directly over a tub or shower. It is UL and cUL listed for indoor dry installations.
4) What voltage is the WAC J2-I track connector rated for?
120V line voltage, and it is a hardwired component rather than a plug-in accessory, so it belongs on a track run fed from a branch circuit by an electrician.
5) How much space does the J2-I connector add to the length of a track run?
The connector measures 3 inches long, 1.82 inches wide and 1 inch high, with a backplate of the same footprint (3 inch width, 1.82 inch depth, 1 inch height). Allow for that 3 inches when you lay out total run length against a wall-to-wall dimension, since the joint occupies space between the two track sections.
6) Does the J2-I connector come in a finish to match black or white track?
Two finishes are offered: black (J2-I-BK) and white (J2-I-WT). Pick the one that matches the track sections and fixtures on the run so the joint disappears into the line.
7) Can the J2-I be flipped to reverse the circuit orientation of the next track section?
No, it is not a reversible-mounting component. It installs one way, which keeps circuit one and circuit two consistent through the joint. If you need the run to turn a corner or branch instead of continue straight, an I connector is the wrong part, use the L, T or X connector for the J 2-Circuit series.
8) Is the WAC J2-I connector Title 24 or Energy Star compliant for a California job?
The J2-I is not Title 24 compliant and is not Energy Star rated. It is a passive aluminum-bodied track joint with no lamp or driver in it, so compliance on a Title 24 project rests on the luminaires and controls you specify for the run, not on the connector.
