1) What does the WAC Lighting JL-LEFT connector actually do on a track run?
The JL-LEFT is a left-turn J connector for WAC's J Track system. It joins two track sections at a corner, carrying power through the turn so one feed runs the whole run. It is a hardwired component at 120 volts, not a lighting fixture, and it does not come as a complete system, so the track sections, feed, and heads are ordered separately.
2) Can I use a left J connector to turn the track the other direction by flipping it?
No. The JL-LEFT is not reversible, so it only makes a left turn as oriented. If your run turns the other way you need the right-hand version of the J connector. Lay out the run and note the direction of each corner before you order.
3) Can the JL-LEFT J track connector be used in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom with a shower?
No. It is rated for dry interior locations only, so keep it out of covered patios, canopies, and wet or damp areas like shower zones. For those spaces you need a fixture and track system carrying a damp or wet location rating.
4) How much ceiling space does the WAC J Track left connector take up?
The body measures 4.25 x 4.25 x 0.75 inches, with a 0.75 inch overall height, so it adds about three quarters of an inch of drop at the corner and consumes roughly 4-1/4 inches of run in each direction. Useful to know when you are turning a corner close to a wall or soffit.
5) What finishes does the WAC J Track left J connector come in, and can I match my existing track?
Three finishes: black (JL-LEFT-BK), brushed nickel (JL-LEFT-BN), and white (JL-LEFT-WT). Order the connector in the same finish as your track sections and feed so the corner does not stand out on an exposed ceiling run.
