WAC Lighting WAC-JFLX – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will the WAC JFLX flexible connector work with 120V J track, and can I use it on line-voltage track from another system?
The JFLX is a J Track series connector rated at 120 volts, so it joins WAC J Track (single-circuit line voltage) runs. It is a J Track collection part, so it mates with J track profile only, not H or L track and not low-voltage two-wire track.
2) Can I use the WAC J Track flexible connector in a covered exterior soffit or a bathroom?
No. The JFLX is an interior part with a Dry location rating, so damp and wet locations are out, including covered outdoor soffits, shower areas and anywhere subject to condensation.
3) Does buying the JFLX connector get me a working track section, or do I need more parts?
Connector only. It is not a complete system, so you still need the J track sections, a power feed or end feed, mounting hardware and the track heads to finish the run. It is hardwired, not a plug-in component, so the circuit has to be brought to the track by an electrician.
4) How much does this WAC track connector add to the track run, and how far does it drop below the ceiling?
Figure 8.5 inches of length, 1.39 inches across, and 0.75 inch of height. That 0.75 inch is also the max height, so the connector sits flush with the track profile rather than hanging below it in a surface-mounted run.
5) What finishes does the WAC JFLX connector come in so it matches the rest of my track?
Three finishes: Black (JFLX-BK), Brushed Nickel (JFLX-BN) and White (JFLX-WT). Order the one that matches the J track sections and heads already installed; the connector is visible at the joint.
6) Is the WAC JFLX track connector UL listed for a commercial job?
It carries UL and cUL safety listings, which covers both US and Canadian installs. Note it is not Energy Star and not Title 24 compliant, so if you are on a California Title 24 lighting job the compliance has to come from the fixtures and controls, not this connector.
7) What is the WAC flexible track connector made of, and will it hold up in a retail ceiling grid install?
The body is aluminum, which keeps the weight down at the joint where two track runs are supported. It is a functional, non-reversible component, so it installs one way up and cannot be flipped to serve a different orientation.
