WAC Lighting 24" Suspension Kit for H-L-J-J2 Track Track Component

120V Track systems are modular and can be designed for multiple applications in nearly any interior environment. Suspension kits are used to suspend track systems beneath a surface. Kit includes a power feedable canopy cover, hallow suspension rod to slide power cables through, and a clip to attach the rod to the track. Suspension rods are standard 18, 24, 36, and 48 inch sizes. Rods may be field cut to custom lengths, use an SK05 field shortening suspension rod adapter (sold separately) when field cutting rods to custom lengths. For slope ceilings, SK14 Sloped ceiling adapter (also sold separately) can be used with a suspension kit.

WAC Lighting WAC-JT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Will WAC J Track fit H track or L track fixtures?
No. J Track is its own single circuit 120V system, and the head of a J/J2 fixture is what mates to it. H track and L track heads use different contact geometry and will not seat in a J Track section. Order J-series heads and J-series connectors for a J Track run. WAC's suspension kits are the one part that crosses over, since the same kit serves H, J/J2 and L track.
2) Can WAC J Track be installed in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom over a shower?
Dry locations only. The J Track sections are UL and cUL Listed for dry locations and rated interior, so a covered walkway, a parking garage soffit, an unconditioned porch or anywhere subject to condensation is out. Over a tub or in a steam-prone bath it also fails the location rating. For those openings you need a fixture carrying a damp or wet location listing.
3) Does the WAC J Track section come with everything I need to light a room, or do I have to buy more parts?
The track section alone is not a working system. It is the extruded aluminum channel only, hardwired to a 120V branch circuit, and it ships without heads, without a power feed and without connectors. Budget a line-voltage feed or end feed, the J-series fixture heads, dead ends, and any L, T or flex connectors the layout needs. If you are hanging it below the ceiling rather than surface mounting, add a suspension kit per run.
4) What lengths and finishes does WAC J Track come in, and can I get every finish in every length?
Four lengths, 2, 4, 6 and 8 feet, each offered in black, brushed nickel and white. Every finish is available in every length, so a job standardized on white can run JT2-WT, JT4-WT, JT6-WT and JT8-WT and still match. Black is JT2-BK through JT8-BK, brushed nickel JT2-BN through JT8-BN. Property managers matching existing runs should read the finish off the installed track rather than the fixture heads, which are ordered separately and can differ.
5) Is WAC J Track low voltage, or does it wire straight to a 120V circuit?
Line voltage. J Track runs at 120V and is hardwired to the branch circuit, so there is no remote transformer or driver to find space for above the ceiling. An electrician terminates at the feed or canopy and the fixture heads take power off the track itself. Do not mate 12V or 24V heads to it.
6) Does WAC J Track meet Title 24 or count as an ADA compliant fixture?
No on both counts. The J Track sections are not Title 24 compliant and are not ADA compliant, and they carry no Energy Star listing. On a California job or a federal facility with an accessibility scope, that has to be resolved at the fixture head and control level rather than assumed from the track.
7) How far does WAC J Track project below the ceiling when surface mounted?
The track profile is 0.75 inches high and 1.5 inches across, so a surface mounted run sits three quarters of an inch off the drywall before you add heads. That matters in a retail fit-out with a low finished ceiling or where the track crosses a soffit edge, and it is the number to check against a drawing that calls out a maximum drop for the lighting.
8) Can WAC J Track be mounted on a wall or upside down under a shelf, or is it ceiling only?
The J Track sections are not reversible mount, so treat the mounting orientation as fixed rather than flipping the extrusion to suit an unusual surface. Wall mounted track washing artwork is a common ask in hospitality and multi-family lobbies, and it wants the track oriented the way the system intends with the heads doing the aiming.
9) What is the difference between the 2 foot and 4 foot WAC J Track sections for a retail display run?
Length and how many support points you need, not electrical capability. Both are single circuit 120V aluminum sections in the same three finishes. The 2 foot piece suits a short display nook or a single seating area, the 4 foot is the workhorse for standard bays, and both take two suspension kits if you are dropping them from the ceiling. Where a stock length lands short of the wall, order the next size down and close the gap with a connector rather than cutting track.
