WAC Lighting WAC-LT – Frequently Asked Questions

1) Is the WAC Lighting L Track a single-circuit or two-circuit track?
The WAC L Track is a single-circuit 120V track section, so every fixture on the run switches and dims together off one circuit. If a job needs two separately switched groups of heads on one continuous run, single circuit won't do it and you'd need a multi-circuit track system instead.
2) What lengths does WAC L Track come in, and can I join sections for a longer run?
L Track sections are sold in 2, 4, 6 and 8 foot lengths (LT2, LT4, LT6 and LT8). Longer runs are built by joining sections with L Track connectors, which are ordered separately from the track itself. Pick the combination that lands your feed and end points where the ceiling framing allows rather than trying to get the full run out of one stick.
3) Does the WAC L Track section come with track heads and a power feed?
No. The L Track section is track extrusion only, not a complete system. To light anything you also need L Track fixtures (heads or pendants), a power feed or end feed, connectors if you're joining sections, and end caps. Budget those separately when you're pricing a run.
4) Can WAC L Track be installed outdoors, in a covered walkway, or in a bathroom?
Interior only, and rated for dry locations. That rules out exterior canopies, covered entries, garages that see weather, and any spot exposed to shower steam. For damp or wet areas you need a fixture carrying a damp or wet location rating instead.
5) Will WAC L Track fittings from another track system fit it?
L Track takes L Track fittings. WAC's track families use different contact geometry per series, so heads, connectors and feeds have to be the matching L series to seat and make contact. If the existing track in the space is a different WAC series or another manufacturer's track, the heads will not transfer and the run gets replaced as a system.
6) Is WAC L Track hardwired or does it plug in?
Hardwired. The track is fed from a building circuit through a power feed, so an electrician terminates it at a junction box. There's no cord-and-plug option, which matters if you're doing a retail or gallery fit-out where a receptacle-fed run was the plan.
7) What finishes does WAC L Track come in, and can I get all lengths in each one?
Three finishes: black, brushed nickel and white. Each is offered in all four lengths, so a 2, 4, 6 or 8 foot section can be had in any of the three. White disappears against most ceilings, black reads deliberate on exposed structure, brushed nickel matches nickel fixture packages.
8) How far does WAC L Track drop below the ceiling?
The track profile is low, at 0.9 inches high and 1.5 inches across, so surface mounted it sits under an inch off the ceiling plane. That keeps it usable in tight ceiling heights and under low soffits where a deeper extrusion would read heavy.
9) Is WAC L Track UL listed for a commercial job?
The L Track carries UL and cUL safety listings, which covers spec work on both sides of the border. It is not Energy Star qualified and is not Title 24 compliant, so on a California project the compliance has to come from the fixtures and controls you put on the track, not from the track itself.
10) Can WAC L Track be mounted to a wall as well as a ceiling?
The L Track is not a reversible-mount component, so plan it as a surface run on the mounting surface it was laid out for rather than assuming it can flip orientation. Aluminum body, which is what keeps an 8 foot section light enough to handle on a single ladder.
11) Is WAC L Track ADA compliant for a corridor?
No, the L Track is not ADA compliant. Ceiling-mounted track is normally clear of the protruding-object rules anyway, but if the run is going on a wall in a circulation path, the ADA projection limits apply and this is not the component to use there.
