1) Will the WAC Lighting JTK-178 track head fit my existing J-track?
Yes, the JTK-178 is built as a J Track fixture, so it mounts to J-type (Juno-compatible) track. It is a line voltage head running on 120V, so the track circuit has to be line voltage as well, not a low-voltage transformer-fed system.
2) What bulb does the JTK-178 track head take, and is one included?
It takes a single PAR20 lamp, rated up to 75W maximum, and the lamp is not included. Either incandescent or LED PAR20 lamps work, so you can drop in an LED PAR20 to cut the load well below the 75W ceiling.
3) Can the JTK-178 head be used in a covered exterior walkway or a bathroom with a shower?
No. The TK-178 head is rated for dry interior locations only, so keep it out of damp or wet areas, covered exteriors, and shower or steam spaces. For those openings you need a fixture carrying a damp or wet location rating.
4) Is the WAC JTK-178 a complete track lighting system or just the fixture head?
Just the head. It is sold as the fixture only, not a complete system, so the track sections, power feed, connectors, and end caps are separate, and so is the lamp. Budget those into the order if you are building a new run rather than adding to existing J-track.
5) How much room does this track head need below the ceiling?
Figure on about 4 inches of drop and a 2 inch diameter body. Stated dimensions are 4 inches height (also listed as max height) with 2 inch diameter, width and length, so it is a compact cylinder head that suits low-clearance retail and residential ceilings.
6) What finishes does the WAC JTK-178 track head come in?
Three: Black (JTK-178-BK), Brushed Nickel (JTK-178-BN), and White (JTK-178-WT). For a clean install, match the head finish to the track itself, since black and white J-track are the two most common and brushed nickel heads will read as a deliberate accent against either.
7) Does the JTK-178 meet California Title 24 for a kitchen or hardwired lighting spec?
It is CEC listed but not Title 24 compliant, and it is not Energy Star rated. For a California project where the circuit has to count toward high-efficacy requirements, this head will not satisfy that on its own. It also is not ADA compliant, so it is not a candidate where a protruding-object limit applies.
8) Can these heads be aimed up at a wall or coffered ceiling, or only down?
Reversible mounting is part of the design, so the head can be oriented for uplight as well as downlight on the track. That makes it workable for wall washing and grazing a soffit, not just straight-down accenting.
