1) Can the WAC Patriot 3 inch square remodel downlight be installed in an existing ceiling without opening the drywall?
That's exactly what the remodel version is for. The Patriot 5CCT 3 inch square downlight (R3HSDR-F9CS) goes in through a cut hole from below in a finished ceiling, with the driver included so there is no separate remote driver to find a spot for. It is IC Rated and airtight, so it can sit in direct contact with insulation in an insulated ceiling.
2) Can I match the color temperature of existing fixtures with the WAC Patriot 5CCT downlight, or do I have to order a specific Kelvin?
One part covers five color temperatures. The Patriot 5CCT is switchable on the fixture between 2700K, 3000K, 3500K, 4000K and 5000K, so you stock a single SKU and set each can to match whatever is already in the building. CRI is 90, which matters if you are blending with existing high-CRI fixtures in retail or hospitality space.
3) Will the WAC Patriot 3 inch downlight run on 277 volt commercial power?
Yes. Input is 120 to 277 VAC, 50/60Hz, so the same fixture works on residential 120V and on 277V commercial branch circuits. Power draw is 12W with delivered output up to 1035 lumens.
4) What kind of dimmer works with the WAC Patriot 5CCT recessed downlight?
It dims on ELV and on TRIAC (standard forward-phase) controls, both rated 100 percent down to 5 percent. If the existing wall box has an incandescent-style TRIAC dimmer, you can reuse it; for smoother low-end performance on a new install, an ELV dimmer is the other supported option. There is no 0-10V control on this model.
5) Can the beam angle be changed on the WAC Patriot 3 inch square downlight after it's installed?
Yes. The trim is twist-on and carries a removable film that adjusts the beam angle, so you can tune spread on site without swapping fixtures. Center beam candlepower is 3095. Note this is the fixed downlight version, not the adjustable gimbal, so the light aims straight down.
6) Do I need to buy a separate driver or trim for the WAC R3HSDR Patriot downlight?
No. The driver is included and the twist-on trim is part of the fixture, so the only thing you supply is the ceiling cutout and the branch circuit connection. It is a square aperture, 3 inch, so confirm your existing openings are square before swapping round cans.
