1) What color temperatures and CRI options does the WAC Aether 2 inch square wall wash come in?
Six light output choices on the R2ASWL. At 85 CRI you can order 2700K, 3000K, 3500K or 4000K. At 90 CRI the choices narrow to 2700K and 3000K. If the spec calls for 90 CRI on a warm scheme, the 927 and 930 codes are the two that meet it; anything at 3500K or 4000K is 85 CRI.
2) Does the Aether R2ASWL come in any beam other than asymmetric?
No. The R2ASWL is built as a dedicated wall wash, and asymmetric is the only beam offered across all twelve orderable combinations. If you need a symmetric downlight beam for general ceiling coverage, that is a different Aether 2 inch model, not this one.
3) Is a trimless recessed light like the Aether R2ASWL something I can swap into an existing can?
No. Trimless means there is no flange covering the ceiling cut, so the housing has to be set before the ceiling is finished and the drywall mudded up to the aperture. It is a new construction or full remodel detail, not a trim swap into an existing can. If you are retrofitting finished ceilings, specify a flanged version instead.
4) What finishes are available on the WAC Lighting R2ASWL Aether trimless wall wash?
Two finish combinations: Black/White and Haze/White. Both pair a white outer element with either a black or haze interior, so the reflector reads darker in the aperture while the trimless edge blends to the white ceiling plane. Every color temperature offered can be had in either finish.
5) How do I read the WAC R2ASWL part number when I order?
The code builds left to right: R2ASWL for the Aether 2 inch square trimless wall wash, then A for the asymmetric beam, then the three digit light code, then the finish. R2ASWL-A930-BKWT is 3000K at 90 CRI in Black/White; R2ASWL-A835-HZWT is 3500K at 85 CRI in Haze/White. The first digit of the light code is the CRI family (8 for 85, 9 for 90) and the last two are the color temperature.
6) Should I use a wall wash fixture or a regular downlight to light artwork on a gallery wall?
For an even sheet of light from ceiling to floor on a flat wall, the asymmetric wall wash is the right tool. It throws the beam forward off the wall-facing side rather than straight down, which keeps scallops off the surface and avoids the hot spot a symmetric downlight leaves. For accenting individual pieces rather than washing the whole plane, an adjustable accent aimed at each piece is the better choice. The R2ASWL only does the wash.
7) Can I mix 2700K and 3000K Aether wall washers on the same run of ceiling?
You can order them, but don't mix them in a sightline. The 927 and 930 options sit one step apart and the difference reads clearly on a white wall wash, where the eye has a large uniform surface to compare against. Pick one code for the whole run. Where two rooms are visible to each other, keep the CRI matched too, since an 85 CRI unit next to a 90 CRI unit at the same Kelvin will still render color differently.
