1) What color temperatures and CRI options does the WAC Aether R2ASWT 2 inch square wall wash trim come in?
The R2ASWT is ordered in six light-quality codes: 2700K, 3000K, 3500K and 4000K at 85 CRI (codes 827, 830, 835, 840), plus 2700K and 3000K at 90 CRI (927, 930). The 90 CRI choices stop at 3000K, so if you need 3500K or 4000K on this trim you are specifying the 85 CRI version. Pick one color temperature and stay with it across a floor so the wall wash reads consistent.
2) Is the R2ASWT an asymmetric wall wash or a regular downlight trim?
Asymmetric wall wash only. Every R2ASWT is built on the Asym beam, which throws the light off-axis toward the wall rather than straight down. That is what lets you set the fixture back from the wall and get an even wash from ceiling line to floor without a scallop. If you want general downlight in the same 2 inch square Aether aperture, you need a different trim in the family, not this one.
3) What trim finishes are available on the WAC Lighting R2ASWT Aether square wall wash?
Three: all Black, Black with a White flange (BKWT), and Haze with a White flange (HZWT). The two-tone options give you a white flange that disappears into a white ceiling while the dark interior cuts glare from the aperture. Straight Black is the choice when the designer wants the aperture to read as a dark square on the ceiling.
4) How do I read a WAC R2ASWT part number when ordering?
The number breaks into three parts. R2ASWT is the Aether 2 inch square wall wash trim, the middle block is beam plus light quality (A for asymmetric, then the three-digit CRI/CCT code), and the suffix is finish. So R2ASWT-A930-HZWT is asymmetric, 90 CRI at 3000K, Haze trim with a White flange. Give your distributor all three blocks or the order comes back incomplete.
5) For a hotel corridor or retail wall, should I spec 90 CRI or 85 CRI on the Aether 2 inch wall wash?
Go 90 CRI where the wash lands on merchandise, artwork, or finished millwork and color accuracy is being judged; on the R2ASWT that means 2700K or 3000K. For circulation, back of house, or anywhere the wash is architectural rather than display, the 85 CRI codes cover 2700K through 4000K and open up the cooler temperatures. Mixing CRI levels on the same wall is what you want to avoid.
6) Do I get all 18 finish and color temperature combinations on the R2ASWT, or are some restricted?
All three finishes are offered against each of the six light-quality codes, which is where the 18 orderable combinations come from. Black, Black/White and Haze/White each run through 827, 830, 835, 840, 927 and 930, so the finish choice never limits your color temperature within the 85 CRI range or the 90 CRI range.
