1) What is the difference between the 8in Long Cowl and the Snoot glare control accessory for WAC landscape accent lights?
Both are glare-control shrouds for WAC Landscape accent lights, and they differ in length. The long cowl versions (5010-LSHR-BBR, 5010-LSHR-BK, 5010-LSHR-BZ) use the 8 inch body, which pushes the light source deep behind the shield for tight beam control and the strongest cutoff on uplights near a walkway or patio seating. The short snoot versions (5010-SNOOT-BBR, 5010-SNOOT-BK, 5010-SNOOT-BZ) share the same 2.88 inch height and width but trim the projection, so they shade the lamp without extending as far into the sightline. Pick the cowl where people look straight into the fixture, the snoot where you only need to knock the edge off.
2) Is this WAC snoot rated to stay outdoors year round in sprinkler spray?
Yes. It is an outdoor landscape accessory rated for wet locations and carries UL, cUL, and IP66. IP66 covers dust and direct water jets, so irrigation spray and driven rain are not a problem, and the brass body will not rust out like a plated steel shroud.
3) Does the WAC 5010 snoot come with the hardware to attach it, or do I need anything else?
The accessory ships as a cowl plus a thumb screw, so no separate fastener kit is needed. The thumb screw means you can fit or reposition it by hand in the field without a driver, which matters when you are dialing in aim after dark. You still need the WAC Landscape accent light itself, this is a shield only and produces no light.
4) What finishes does the WAC 5010 snoot come in, and can I match it to my existing landscape fixtures?
Three finishes: Black, Bronze, and Bronzed Brass. All three are offered in both the snoot and the 8 inch long cowl style, so you can shade a whole run of fixtures and keep one finish across the job. If you are matching older brass fixtures that have weathered, Bronzed Brass is the closest, since the accessory body is brass under the finish.
5) Will this snoot work on my 12 volt low voltage landscape system?
It is specified for WAC Landscape 12V accent lights, which is the standard low voltage landscape platform. Because it is a passive brass shroud with no electrical parts, it does not add load or affect your transformer sizing or wire gauge calculations, it simply clamps to the fixture head.
6) Will the 8 inch cowl fit in a tight planting bed without sticking out past the shrubs?
Plan for roughly 8 inches of added projection off the fixture, with a 2.88 inch diameter envelope at the head. In dense low plantings or against a narrow foundation strip that length can end up visible or catch a trimmer. In those spots the short snoot version gives you glare control in the same 2.88 inch body without the long extension.
