1) What is the WAC Landscape 5000-SCP surface mount canopy used for?
It is a mounting accessory, not a fixture. The 5000-SCP canopy gives a WAC landscape accent or wall wash light a surface-mounted base instead of a ground stake, so the fixture can be fastened to a wall, soffit, hardscape cap or other solid surface. Mounting hardware ships with the canopy.
2) Can the WAC 5000-SCP canopy be installed outdoors in a rain-exposed location?
Yes. The canopy is rated for outdoor use at a Wet location, and it carries UL, cUL and an IP65 rating, so direct rain and hose-down exposure are within its listing.
3) What size hole or footprint do I need for the WAC landscape surface mount canopy?
The canopy is round at 4.42 inches diameter and stands 1 inch off the mounting surface. Length and width both measure 4.42 inches, so plan on a flat pad at least that wide and allow for the 1 inch profile when you figure fixture height.
4) Is the 5000-SCP canopy for 12V low voltage landscape lighting or line voltage?
12V low voltage. It belongs to the WAC Landscape line and is intended for 12V landscape accent and wall wash fixtures running off a low voltage transformer. Don't put it on a 120V fixture.
5) What finishes does the WAC 5000-SCP canopy come in, and will it match my existing fixtures?
Three finishes: Bronze on Brass (5000-SCP-BBR), Black on Aluminum (5000-SCP-BK) and Bronze on Aluminum (5000-SCP-BZ). Match the substrate as well as the color. If your fixtures are brass bodied, the BBR canopy keeps the same metal; the BK and BZ canopies are K-Alloy aluminum to pair with aluminum fixtures.
6) Does the 5000-SCP include a light or do I order the fixture separately?
Separately. What ships is the canopy and its mounting hardware only. You order the WAC landscape accent or wall wash head, the canopy, and your low voltage cable and transformer as separate line items.
7) Will an aluminum landscape canopy hold up in a coastal or irrigated planting bed?
The aluminum versions are K-Alloy aluminum, WAC's marine-grade alloy used for corrosion resistance in wet ground and spray conditions, and the part is IP65 rated. For heavy salt exposure many specifiers still prefer brass, which is what the Bronze on Brass version gives you.
8) Can I flip the WAC 5000-SCP canopy to mount the fixture in either direction?
No. The canopy is not reversible, so it mounts one way only. Work out the fixture orientation before you drill, because you can't turn the canopy over to change aim direction.
9) Does the WAC landscape surface mount canopy meet California Title 24 and ADA requirements?
Yes on both. The 5000-SCP is listed Title 24 compliant and ADA compliant, and it is Energy Star qualified, which matters on California residential and commercial exterior lighting permits.
